Rival territories: Fear The Fin, Battle Of California
Series score: 3-0 San Jose
So, here we are. Again. The 2nd year in a row. The Canucks find themselves on the verge of being swept by a California team in the 1st round. It has turned into a do or die situation for Vancouver: win tonight, or be the first team eliminated from this year's post-season.
Of course, there is hope to be had. The Canucks played decently in the losses for games 1 and 2, before game 3's meltdown. If Cory Schneider can hold the fort tonight, and the forwards figure out how to score some goals, we could force a game 5. We did it last year against the future Cup Champion LA team, we can do it again. (Of course, we won game 4 against LA, only to lose in OT of game 5.) And also, our game 6 against SJ is scheduled for May 11th, which should bring back memories from against Chicago in 2009 and 2010.
As for myself, I would love to see the Canucks come back from down 3-0 to win this series, although I am well aware of the odds. I also realize that we could be swept tonight. However, the words of poet Dylan Thomas ring true:
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
You know what to do. Coconuts go!
