Canucks re-sign Tom Sestito

While much of the media attention in Vancouver is focused on their coaching search, one of the roster moves for next year has apparently been shored up as Tom Sestito announces over Twitter he's signed a new deal with the team.

Couldn't be happier to announce I have signed a two year deal with the Vancouver Canucks
— Tom Sestito (@TomSestito23) May 29, 2013

Still awaiting official word, but it looks like Tostito will be around for a while longer. Makes you wonder about the other 4th liners, but apparently Mike Gillis saw something in the waiver wire pickup from the Flyers earlier in the season that he liked. (Here's the press release from the team

Sestito played in 23 games for the Canucks, which seems like far more than I recall, and notched one goal and 53 penalty minutes. No details other than it being a 2 year deal. So, toughness I guess, right?

*UPDATE* Via Botch on Twitter, the terms of the deal

Canuck sign Tom Sestito to 2-year, $1.5m deal. He does provide size to a team that acknowledges it needs to be bigger
— Jason Botchford (@botchford) May 29, 2013

Seems like a bit much, but as Thomas Drance points out over at Canucks Army, maybe that deal makes it easier to sneak him out on waivers should they need to.

In other news, the New York Rangers have fired John Tortorella, and thousands of Canucks fans have changed their misguided chants from "RUFF!" to "TORTS!". Please. No. No, no a thousand times, no. Eakins or Tippett, but Tortorella only if they and Larry Robinson AND John Stevens are not available.
