Drawing the San Jose Sharks left me feeling uneasy and now I can see why I felt that. The Sharks are out for revenge and are playing like it. The Canucks, seemingly lacking some form of identity, are giving me deja-vu of last season. There is something missing from this team. Maybe not everyone is not on the same page. Maybe there is not enough chemistry. Maybe both. Some form of spark is needed. Game 2 is a must win, in my opinion. The Canucks need to split the games in Vancouver because the Sharks are deadly on home ice.
Word out of San Jose is that Martin Havlat took a Kevin Bieksa stick to the groin in Game 1.
Also, TJ Galiardi had no ill words for Jannik Hansen for Beaker's big hit made on him in Game 1. In fact, he showed utter class:
"I feel good, thankfully," Galiardi said this afternoon. "You know he’s just playing hard and he just wants to finish his check so there’s no real lingering hatred or anything like that. I’m sure I’ve gotten away with a few hits in my career, too.
"I play the same way, too," he continued. "On a forecheck, you want to finish your check or else you’re going to hear about it. it’s playoffs, so everyone’s going to try and get their licks in when they can. Whether or not it’s clean or dirty, it doesn’t matter. We won the game and just move on."
That was quoted from San Jose Mercury News. Classy guy, that Galiardi. Why can't more players be like him?
