Canucks Recall Jensen and Sweatt; Send Kassian and Gordon To The Wolves

Bruce Bennett

An interesting change up by the Canucks to try find more offence. Zack Kassian is apparently ready to play after his ongoing back problems, but did not play last night in Edmonton, and was not generating any offence before he left. In 6 games with the Canucks, Andrew Gordon had no points, was a -1 and only had 2 shots.

I am excited to see what Nicklas Jensen can bring. He scored 17 goals in 50 games for AIK of the SEL during the lockout. Only 2 goals and 4 points with the Wolves though. The winger was the Canucks' first round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft. If Jensen plays 5 games with the Canucks, his current NHL contract will kick in, as Ben Kuzma notes.

The Dane stands at 6'3" and still needs to add to his size (around 186 pounds).

Billy Sweatt has been here before, in a checking role. But that was only 2 games. He looks to be having a decent season in Chicago.

I like these roster moves. No, the Canucks don't get any bigger, but they do get faster with a bit more offensive potential. Lord knows they need more offence. And a better power play.

You can also read into this that the trade deadline is looming and Mike Gillis is up to something.
