Not a must-win game for Vancouver, but it sure would be sweet if they could defeat the team that stands in their way of a current playoff spot by ONE point. This is the first game of a 5-game home stand for the Canucks. Home, where the heart is but not the results.
What is it about the Coyotes? I really don't like anything about them except Shane Doan, who should be a Canuck. The rest of them can bleed. Especially you, Mike Smith.
KNOW YOUR ENEMY
The Coyotes have been playing a lot of win - loss hockey over the past few weeks. The last time they won 2 straight was on November 15. From October 22 to November 5 (against Vancouver) they were 6-1-0. They are 5-5-2 since then.

TOP PHOENIX SCORERS
1. Vrbata: 9-15-24
2. Doan: 12-11-23
3. Hanzal: 8-14-22
4. Ribeiro: 8-13-21
5. Yandle: 3-16-19
The Phoenix Coyotes are coming off back to back games against the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames. They played a solid game against the Oilers, with plenty of offense, solid defense, and a win. The next night though they dropped the game against the Flames, while they scored first they couldn't keep the lead and the final score was 4-1.
The Coyotes play against the Flames left much to be desired, and although some of the Calgary goals were more deflections and luck then major defensive break downs, the team needed to show that they can come back from a deficit against one of the bottom teams in the NHL. In the past, the Coyotes have played up or down to their opponents, so we could see a better performance tonight against a much better Vancouver team.
-Game Preview at Five For Howling
CANUCKS MISC
-The Canucks will be without Alexander Edler, who appears to have suffered a knee injury. Edler leads the team with time on ice, so the Province projects a big increase in Chris Tanev's minutes.Of course, Andrew Alberts draws in, and he has not played since October 24.
HE SAID IT
"I'll say it again today and I've said it right on through. (Even though) we won three of four on the road, I thought we were playing better when we were losing games at home. There is no science to my thinking, home or away. We are trying to be the best we can every night. Obviously the last homestand we had some problems finishing games. We had some detail problems and I think we're beginning to iron those out. We're going to try and play a complete game against Phoenix and see where we fall."
More from Torts:
-David Booth will likely play with the Sedins again, and the second line appears to be Higgins-Kesler-Santorelli. Dalpe should be in. Roberto Luongo starts.
