Like Owen Nolan, Peter Schaefer, Niko Dimitrakos, Anders Eriksson, Todd Fedoruk and several others before him, Cam Barker has accepted a PTO for the Canucks training camp.
On the one hand, he's a healthy body that could yield dividends once the injury bug comes around (as you know it will). At the very least he should be an upgrade to Derek Joslin (quick: imagine Joslin and Barker on the same pairing. I'm sorry, that was mean.)
On the other hand, this is the same guy who has personified failure (ok that was mean too...how about "turnover"?) and you don't need to look far to see just how bad he has been. Though it shouldn't matter, this was one first hand account of Barker just yesterday at UBC:
So yeah: worthy risk a la Andrew Raycroft or just stay away? You decide!
