2012 Playoffs Open Thread- Thursday May 3

Ilya Kovalchuk is a game time decision after spending time at the 'therapist' recently. No, no... it's likely a herniated disc in his back. Could this mean trouble for the Devils?

Well, that was an interesting night of hockey, no? From the Rangers and Caps doing battle in the 20th longest playoff game in history, to the Preds getting back in their series against Phoenix with a 2-0 shutout at home, both games provided plenty of entertainment if you still actually give a rat's fat ass about hockey. Tonight starts out with the New Jersey Devils hosting Philadelphia, and the big question is: Will Ilya Kovalchuk play tonight? He's listed as a game time decision for the Devils. After that (barring some epic overtime, of course) it's off to LA to see if St. Louis is for real as they try and knock off the Kings on home ice and avoid going down 3-0 in that series. Just a reminder that tomorrow morning, we'll have a special World Championships Open Thread for you early birds that gets underway at 6am, so join me for coffee and hockey we can kinda sorta get behind as we cheer on Alexandre Burrows and Team Canada as they face Slovakia in their opening game of the tournament!
