Luongo's ready.

It's March, the final full month of the regular season. To help get ready for the stretch drive, I've created a desktop background with the team's schedule for the month. I know there are other sites that do this, but I don't like a lot of clutter on my desktop, and typically find most wallpapers way too busy. I've created this to suit my taste, so it may not be for everyone, but I thought I'd share it anyway. You can see a sample of it above. To download the full image at 1920x1080 resolution, click here. If you like it but need it resized to fit your screen, email me and I'll try to accomodate you.

Now, onto the links!

Vancouver Canucks News & Notes

Daniel Wagner explains the reasoning behind the Cody Hodgson trade with an elaborate Karate Kid metaphor. Cool. [PITB]

Hodgson's agent Ritch Winter (still sounds like the name of a James Bond villain to me) unwisely took to Twitter yesterday and got into an exchange with a couple fans. He would not confirm they asked for a trade, but he did admit to asking Vigneault for more ice time. The big picture starts to get a little more clear. [The White Towel]

Jonathan Willis expands on something I touched on in Tuesday's post: whether or not the Hodgson-Kassian swap works out, Mike Gillis deserves props for having the guts to pull off a major trade while his team sat first overall. [Canucks Army]

The Canucks' Derek Jory recounts the team's recent road trip with a dizzying array of stats, quips and factoids. [Canucks]

Thanks to Mason Raymond's failed spin-o-rama in the shootout against Phoenix, his move now has a new name: The Spin-o-Rayma! [Legion of Blog]

Tony G. with a few thoughts on David Booth, when the Canucks choose to practise, and first thoughts on Zack Kassian. [The White Towel]

Today in Canucks History

[March 1, 1993] Pavel Bure scores his 50th goal against Grant Fuhr of the Buffalo Sabres in a neutral site game at Hamilton's Copps Coliseum. It is Bure's 63rd game. Dixon Ward and Robert Dirk assist on the historic goal. Canucks win 5-2.

NHL News & Notes

Eric Nystrom threw a questionable hit on Kris Letang last night, who was hurt and did not return. Suspendable? [Puck Daddy]

Jeremy Roenick and Mike Milbury really got into it when discussing the hit on NBC. [PHT]

Sadly, Montreal Canadiens' great Jean Beliveau suffered a stroke on Monday. You can leave comments and well wishes over on Eyes on the Prize, which will eventually be passed on to Beliveau.

Wayne Gretzky isn't ready to return to the NHL in any capacity quite yet. Attempting to keep hot daughter Paulina Gretzky's Twitter account under control is proving to be a full-time job. [CBC]

Check out Thomas Greiss' new Yeti mask. Love it! [Backhand Shelf]

A tough question no one in Chicago wants to face: should Jonathan Toews by shutdown for the season? He's made little progress in his recovery from a concussion. [Kukla's Korner]

Six interesting storylines to watch as we enter the final full month of the regular season. [NHL]
