(Stats accumulated prior to tonight`s games.)
The Canucks and Thrashers have only played eachother 4 times since February 2007. The Canucks hold a 3-1 record. Like missy had pointed out today, we renew our acquaintance with one Dustin Byfuglien. Is he gonna park his fat ass in front of Luongo...who knows. Oh, and hello again Andrew Ladd, another Hawk I hated. Understand I hate them because of their success against us and for the same reason opposing fans hate Burrows.
The Thrashers are not going to make the playoffs. The Canucks are closing in on clinching top spot in the NHL. Even with their excellent positioning they are telling us that they are not going to let up and want to go into the playoffs rolling. May it be so!
Alain Vigneault said Thursday that Mikael Samuelsson (lower body) and Tanner Glass (ribs) need a couple more days yet before they are ready. Perfect. Let Higgins and Raymond get more minutes and snap out of their collective funks. I can see the look in Chris Higgins`eyes. He really wants to get that first goal as a Canuck out of the way. The effort is there. I love his play. The scoring will come. Raymond is pressing too but man is he squeezing the stick. His confidence is not there. Vancouver needs scoring from other people. Only once in the Canucks` last 3 games has a goal been scored without a Sedin being involved on the scoresheet.
Some whack stats from Covers.com:
-Canucks are 7-1 in their last 8 Friday games.
-Canucks are 25-9-1 in their last 35 vs. Southeast.
-Thrashers are 7-1 in their last 8 games as a home underdog.
-Thrashers are 5-11 in their last 16 home games.
-Thrashers are 8-21 in their last 29 overall.
