You think they miss Marc Staal??
All we need is an immediate impact from Ryan Kesler, continued improvement on the powerplay (Rangers have been quite undisciplined), less suckage on the PK, and another Roberto Luongo effort like he has done for us in his 2 games as a Canuck versus the Rangers: a 2-0-0 record and a 1.50 goals against average. The D game is slowly coming together too, and we'll see what results happen now as Alain Vigneault has shuffled the deck with the pairings.
Anyone old enough to remember the birth of grunge music is about old enough to remember the sting of 1994. And that stinger has never gone away for many older Canucks fans. It makes a Canucks-Rangers game all that much more fun. A win over the Rangers always feels sweet. F*ck you Richter!
The Rangers are off to a bad start, but are not getting blown out in their games. They have not even played a game at MSG yet, and won't until October 27. Look for a simplified game from them, with tight defence and solid goaltending from King Henrik Lundqvist. It would be in the Canucks' best interest to score first and dictate the tone on home ice.
No videos tonight. Only:
Rick, you will never be forgotten. Ever. Be at peace.
The Canucks will finally honor him Tuesday night.
Canucks.com has a most excellent Rypien tribute page up right now. Check it out and re-live the memories.
Also, check out an article at the Sun of Kevin Bieksa talking in depth about his brother Rick here. Heart-wrenching stuff.
