Two of the heavyweights of the (better) conference tangle tonight with an eye on first place bragging rights. A win could open up an 11 point lead over Colorado for the division, pad their league-best record by four points, be the first team to crack the 60 point threshold and hold a 39 point edge over the league-worst NJ Devils. Hey that's fun.
Even while struggling, the Wings remain scary and these two have enjoyed running the score up on each other so no reason to expect that to change. Vancouver holds the edge at special teams and in remaining healthy (Detroit is missing a combined 110 points with injuries to Datsyuk, Cleary, Stuart, Filppula and Modano) and have made it their business to tear Howard a new one when given the chance. Then again, so what? It's the Wings, you know what they bring. All our fun during the last ten games could be damped in short order if they pull up a stinker tonight.
It doesn't get much better than this; hell most of Sweden should tune in. Have a friend who doesn't like hockey? Clockwork Orange their ass in front of a tee vee tonight and watch a new fan blossom. Just don't forget to release them afterward; they'll owe you a thank-you drink anyway.
You got heart, kid. That's what it takes to be a champ
