I'm taking my computer to class, so I'll be able to update through most of the day. Here's what has been happening so far today:
- Added (2:31): Sharks re-sign Jay Leach for 2 years.
- Added (2:30): Sabres sign Patrick Lalime to a 1-year deal.
- Added (2:27): Avalanche re-sign Brandon Yip for 2 more years.
- Added (2:26): The Hurricanes have brought UFA defenceman Joe Corvo back into the fold. 2 years, $4.5 million.
- Added: Happy belated birthday to Christian Ehrhoff. He turned 28 yesterday.
- Added: I know it's a bit more of a sensitive topic, but Derek Zona has written an amazing piece over at Copper & Blue about homophobia in hockey.
- Capitals have re-signed Jeff Schultz for 4 more years.
-
Evgeni Nabokov has signed for 4 years at $6M/year in Russia. Our Sharks counterpart, Fear The Fin, has more on that. UPDATE: Here's the Chesnokov post I was talking about earlier.
-
Rob Niedermayer is signing for 1 year with the Sabres. TSN says it's for $1M. (h/t and apologies to Jevant, who put up a fanshot that I didn't notice before)
- Mike Weber has signed for another year with the Sabres.
- Apparently, the Kings are back in the Ilya Kovalchuk race, and Kovy is making them a counter-offer today.
