With both Daymond Langkow, Matt Stajan and David Moss out with injuries, the Flames must have been licking their chops at the chance that someone like Brendan Morrison didn't crack the Canucks' roster. As Ben Kuzma and now TSN are reporting, the Calgary Flames have signed Morrison to a 1-year $725,000 deal. So, at a cheap price tag like that, it really wasn't about dollars with the Canucks. Like Alain Vigneault said, Morrison just didn't fit the criteria they were looking for, even after a solid preseason and Camp.
He'll get a lot of minutes in Calgary. However..damn it, it's CALGARY. For the 6 times we play them this year he is going to be a man possessed to rub it in AV's face that letting him go was a mistake. A point of whacky interest: the Canucks don't play the Flames until December 1st. I kid you not.
I'd like to wish Morrison good luck with his new team..but I can't. He's a Flame. He is dead to me now (heh). Update: Morrison had been on the Flames' radar for weeks now. More on that at the Province.
