With all the recent attention focused on the Sedins, Samuelsson, Luongo, the depleted blueline and now Wellwood's arbitration, Jannick Hansen has fallen by the wayside. It's a shame too because he had a decent rookie season and was solid on the PK despite the finger injury that kept him out of the line up.

In truth, if you look at the lines, there isn't much room for him as he'll be at least competing with fellow RW'ers Demitra, Samuelsson and Bernier for a starting job (and Grabner and Gendur from the Moose). This probably explains some of the whispers that he (or his rights) will be traded if Vancouver can find a taker.

For now, Hansen remains on the outside looking in as the youngest RFA the team has to contend with. According to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Hansen certainly sounds like he's returning but the sticking point remains if the contract is one way or two. Clearly Gillis would love the option to stuff him down in Manitoba but it sounds like the Dane will hold fast for a one way deal. Despite that the report this morning sounds confident a deal will be made in time for training camp.

We'll see.
