Vancouver is one of nine teams without a win yet this season. That's just a friendly reminder that nothing is lost yet. But, if Vancouver does lose, we'll have four days before the Dallas game for the media to plan a parade route right to the closest cemetery for these guys.

Standing in the way of that first win of the season are the Montreal Canadiens. I understand they won a Cup or two. Maybe three. And in hopes of getting another one they will be liberally deploying their off season prizes Scott Gomez, Brian Gionta and Mike Cammalleri.

That's actually incorrect. Gomez is no prize. Anything Glen Sather proudly gives $7 million a season to is crap.

On the back end, we know Andrei Markov is gone and that leaves Roman Hamrlik, Jaroslav Spacek, Paul Mara, Hal Gill, Josh Gorges and Yannick Weber to hold the fort down in front of Anaheim Lake-native Carey Price.

We've debated back and forth what the Canucks need to do tonight. Stay out of the box? Check. Finish your chances? Please. Be diligent about your defensive responsibilities? You betcha. Remain calm, cool and collected if you end up down a goal? Hells yes. Tanner Glass? If you provide some spark on your line, you'll see how quickly 18,630 people can love you. And Luongo? Just do your thing. This lady has your back.

Here's your game thread for the evening folks. With any luck, Mr. Mitchell will not be leading the team in points a few hours from now.
