Penguins place Mark Recchi on waivers

New, comments
Recchi has only 2 goals and 6 assists in 19 games played this year. He has been a healthy scratch in 7 of his last 8 games.
But that doesn't mean that Recchi is done like dinner though. He can still put up better numbers than that, even if he is 39 years old. He still has blazing speed and good hands. Last season with Pittsburgh, he scored 24 goals and 68 points in 82 games. Not bad at all.
In his regular season career, he has 510 goals and 1341 points in 1357 games. Recchi has 47 goals and 117 points in 140 career playoff games. He won a Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 1991 (34 points in 24 games) and also with the Hurricanes in 2006 (16point in 25 games.)
Recchi is a leader. He is still a good value at $2 million per season. I cannot see anyone passing on this guy.....yet.
I'd welcome him in Vancouver. You?
