So close: Schedule won't change...yet

From the Globe and Mail: The NHL Board of Governors discussed a possibility to drop the current scheduling concept and voted on it. The results were close apparently.
The governors fell one vote short of the required two-thirds majority on a motion to drop two of the eight games against teams in the same division and add home-and-home games against teams in the opposite conference. When only 19 of the 30 governors voted in favour of the move, the NHL decided to maintain the status quo.

Word is that it will be examined further in mid-January during the All Star Weekend in Dallas. So all hope is not lost.
