For Moose, playoffs the only sure thing (Cody Hodgson)

Gary Lawless for the Winnipeg Free Press calls Cody Hodgson the biggest disappointment on the Moose. What does this mean? As far as I'm concerned nothing. For Hodgson to fit with the Canucks he's going to have to build his game up the same way Kesler did. Speaking of Kesler, at 20/21 Kesler was putting up almost identical as Hodgson this year (+/- is the real difference), and Kesler already had a full season with the Moose/28 games with the Canucks under his belt.

Congrats to Cody "Thunderdome" Hodgson for scoring his first NHL goal! What a beauty it was! A lot of talk about CoHo tonight. And a lot of praise for Ryan Kesler, who scored his 30th goal of the season. The man is on fire. Hodgson post game interview

"He's working on core training and he's got a regime that he needs to finish," said Lawrence Gilman. (Cody) Hodgson is expected to be at the prospects physicals at Rogers Arena on Friday, but Gilman said it's uncertain if the 20-year-old centre will play in the prospects tournament in Penticton. "'For any player, we want to make sure he's fit to play," said Gilman. "We haven't had a chance to conduct a (recent) medical evaluation (on Hodgson)." - from Jim Jamieson at the Province Update (h/t Yankee): Gillis said about Hodgson today: "Our medical staff is going to do a thorough investigation, and if there’s any tweaks or he feels unsure yet or if he needs a bit more time, he won’t be participating this weekend. He’s gone through a long struggle with this back injury, he’s had a really good summer of training, and we’re going to put him on the ice when he’s 100% ready to go. We want him ready as soon as possible but he’s like any other player who is rehabbing an injury. They get totally evaluated and don’t get on the ice until they’re 100% and ready to participate. It would be somewhat unfair if he wasn’t in that position when we have guys working their butt off to try and make this hockey team. I spoke with him yesterday. He’s in great spirits, very eager, we just want to make sure he’s 100%."

You know, after last year's debacle with Hodgson, I can't wait until all this crap is over with. My spidey senses tell me something stinks.

"I'm not talking about Cody Hodgson," Mike Gillis said from Boston. "He doesn't play for our team." When asked what he made of Hodgson's statement, Gillis replied: "I don't care." "[Hodgson] has some ideas of his own," Gillis said. "I haven't talked to him, so I'm not going to comment until then."

From the Globe and Mail. Read into it what you wish, I just hope this whole thing gets settled quick.

Windsor/Brampton Game 4 Highlights: Jimmy Neutron Nets Two in the Third

The two Loktionov goals were clutch, but frankly the best goal of the game was the Cody Hodgson breakaway goal that came right on the heels of an amazing save at the other end by Thomas McCollum....

"There's obvious stiffness and all the tension comes with it, but it's just my power — it's not there," said Hodgson. "The quick-twitch muscle needs to regrow and I'm trying to get so I can explode again. That's the most difficult part. I see an opening and I just can't get to it. Once I'm going I'm fine and I have the top-end speed. But the first two or three steps, there's no pop. The left leg has it, but with the right leg, there's no explosiveness yet."

The clock is ticking and the speculation and pressure on Hodgson is growing. He scored no points and zero shots on goal against the Ducks.

Before his mercurial career could continue taking flight, Manitoba Moose rookie forward Cody Hodgson had to learn a little bit about how AHL teams get on an airplane. That small, but important, detail was crossed off the list during the Moose-Houston Western Conference finals. The possible explanations are a little murky. Perhaps the brilliant prospect thought that travel days were dress-down days. It could be argued that Hodgson's roommate -- whom he did not want to publicly blame -- should have tipped him off differently. The bottom line was that when Hodgson showed up at the airport for the flight to Houston, he was rocking shorts and a golf shirt. Um, no. The actual dress code for such occasions calls for a suit. Hodgson quickly ducked into a restroom to change into something a little more formal, but the damage was done. Cell phones were whipped out, pictures were taken and one somehow found its way to the phone of head coach Scott Arniel, who was en route to the airport and missed seeing the show in person. "The guys had a good laugh about it," said Hodgson, 19. "It was a good learning experience."
