Capitals Retire Mike Gartner's 11

Without knowing the pulse of longtime Capitals' fandom, retiring Make Gartner's #11 seems fitting (if tardy?) enough. Gartner entered the Hall of Fame in 2001. He was the franchise's all-time...

John Walton's call of Joel Ward's OT Game-Winner

This was originally posted by ShootTheBullets in the overtime thread, so I can't take credit. I just thought it deserved a Fanshot for all to listen to! Especially since I've already listened to it half a dozen times or so.

Caps Fire Boudreau, Install Hunter

Japers' Rink has the rundown. Does this make the Caps a more or less formidable foe? Despite his failings, Boudreau compiled some impressive numbers during his time in D.C. Hunter's coaching experience comes from his 9-1/2 seasons running the London Knights' bench (which he also owns, BTW). Will Alex Ovechkin and Alex Semin take to Hunter's message the same as Corey Perry, Nazem Kadri and Dale's son, Dylan?

Jagr's agent reaching out to NHL teams

Interesting news, and for me personally it would be a dream come true to see him in the Black and Gold again. Wings Assistant Coach McCrimmon Leaving Red Wings, Considered for Head Coaching Positions

"After three seasons as an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings, Brad McCrimmon has decided to leave the organization." "McCrimmon also has worked as an assistant coach with the Thrashers, Flames and Islanders, and could be a candidate for any of the five coaching jobs currently open -- Atlanta, New Jersey, Minnesota, Ottawa and Florida." So, I don't really know anything about McCrimmon, but I do know that there has been sentiment on this site for hiring a Red Wings assistant as our head coach. Is McCrimmon good enough? Do you think the fact that he has made himself known to be available for head coaching jobs could influence GMGM's decision-making?

Staal vs. Backstrom: Did Shero make the right pick in 2006?

With Staal playing great, it's worthwhile to look back at the decision to make him the second-overall pick in 2006. There were certainly alternatives, but things seem to have worked out well for all parties.

Semin: No Longer a Free Agency Option

If they are calling Semin an enigma, maybe we should stop the debate about whether our guys are. Wyshynski @ Puck Daddy
