As the Vancouver Sun puts it, today is the 6 week anniversary of Daniel Sedin's foot injury. Remember the good old days when Daniel said he planned on being back in the 3-week range? Bah! Doctors know best, Dank. He did skate by himself for a bit this morning but that was it. This means that it's unlikely he will play against the Avalanche on Friday. Damn it!

Markus Naslund is returning to hockey to play with Peter Forsberg for Modo. Most interestingly, both of them are declining salaries and will play for free. Apparently the jump across the pond really is the sticking point. Pretty sure we could have found space for both of them, and even offered to pay them the NHL minimum. Edit: Naslund said today: "I will do anything to get in shape and hope I can add something on the ice, but as everybody understands it's not just to get on the ice and perform. I'm really looking forward to play with Modo again and the fact that Peter and I will do it together is of course something really special."

This according to the Province. No word yet on why Salo and Ripper are out. I'll guess it's a maintenance day for Rypien's hand and Salo's entire body. UPDATE: So all 3 will be at practice on Wednesday. Salo was dealing with "a personal matter" and Rypien was having a "maintenance day." Well, I was close!
