Now that the draft order for non-playoff teams has been settled, there have been a fair number of web pages that have updated their 2014 mock drafts. So far I have found 11 pages who have published their end of regular season pages. As more websites update their opinions, they will be included in this analysis.
The thing about mock drafts that make them difficult to take seriously is that many of these sites are just regurgitating the ISS or NHL Central Scouting rankings. This doesn’t address organizational need or any kind of outside information about how any given team may feel about a specific player. Obviously none of the mock drafts have access to each team’s war room, but at the same time understanding what holes each team has to fill creates a more probable mock pick. In my opinion, the more valuable sites will give the reader some insight as to why the players are picked.

It appears as though the consensus of the experts is that William Nylander becomes the newest Canuck. He’s Swedish and highly skilled… Makes sense right?
It is a bit surprising to see Dal Colle fall into our laps a couple of times as I feel he is going to be a sure fire top 5 pick this year.
We have had several conversations about Jake Virtanen and Nick Ritchie, and it’s no surprise that a couple of these experts have agreed that these players could be a good fit for the organization.
The only slight surprise is Fleury, but it would make sense to add the second best defenseman available in this draft class.
