4 years ago, Vancouver hosted the 2010 Olympic games, and Canada broke a Winter Olympics record for most gold medals won by a single country. For the past 4 years, we have not stopped gloating about it, and have looked forward to defending our championships. The time has now come.
The world is welcomed to Sochi, Russia, as they host the 2014 Winter Olympics. Although the competitions started Thursday with Freestyle Skiing, Figure Skating and Snowboarding, the official kick-off happens now with the opening ceremony.
Time: 8:00pm Sochi time = 8:00am PST
(We are going to have it easy for calculating the time zone difference out here on the West Coast.)

Ever since I saw the Russian presentation at the closing ceremony for the Vancouver games, I have been waiting to see what Sochi does for their cultural presentation at their own games. Russia has been doing different things while hidden behind the Iron Curtain, and this will be a big chance to show the world what they have become. This should be good.
On with the Games! Canada go!
