I know Mike Gillis said he wanted to model the Canucks after the Red Wings but I don't think he meant that both teams being so close statistically in a situation like this! Both teams are in 8th spot in their Conference. The Canucks are now only 1 point up on 9th place Phoenix. The Wings are 0 points up on 9th place Philadelphia with a host of other teams breathing down their necks.
John Tortorella makes his return to the team after a 15-day suspension. Some think he can do the Red Foreman thing and insert his foot into their asses. I remain skeptical. I mean, he will put his foot in their ass, but I'm not sure it's going to yield far better results. The Canucks have lost 3 straight and 12 of their last 16 games. It was a painful January to say the least. Now they must soldier on with an injury list of 7 players! Well, it could be less if Henrik Sedin and Tom Sestito return, which is entirely possible. Even so, there are too many players mired in slumps.
2 games in 2 nights. Detroit and then....BOSTON! Hell yea!

Detroit lost 6-5 in OT to the Capitals on Sunday night. Some guy named Gustav Nyquist scored 3 goals and 1 assist for the Wings. Watch out for him! He has 8 goals and 4 assists in his last 8 games! My god, take note, Canucks forwards.

This week, the Wings are facing a trio of struggling teams, which, in and of itself can present a trap. Both Vancouver and Florida have dropped four of their last five games, and Tampa Bay has lost three straight. However, against the three opponents, the Red Wings have accumulated a 2-2-3 record this season.
The last meeting between these 2 teams:
