Morning Buzz: Where in the world is Manny Malhotra?

Rich Lam

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. You fool me a third time...well, then I'm a lot dumber than we all thought. Because I woke up thinking it was Friday, but quickly came to my senses.

Good morning, everyone. Hope you're all well today and with a special someone, or miserable and crying at home, listening to Lionel Richie, I don't know how Valentine's Day works anymore. Either way, we've got some Canucks news with a mix of other random NHL news. Lets get at it!

Canucks News:

>> Where in the World is Manny Malhotra? Absent from practice on Monday and not in the lineup on Tuesday, Manny Malhotra is the new Carmen San Diego, except, you know, you can find him in the gym, or something.

>> Jeff Angus from Canucks Army has a great piece on Chris Higgins and the Value of a Role Player.

>> This is from yesterday, so of course I missed it, but Jason Botchford says the Sedin's slow start is more of a reality check than a crisis.

>> Jim Jamieson once told me I had a drinking problem. Confused, I told him to stop going through my garbage and to leave the neighborhood raccoons alone. He also talks about the motivation and mission of Jordan Schroeder.

>> Mike Gillis takes a shot at bloggers who live in their Mother's basements. Unconfirmed are reports he knocked blogging in your undies. Don't knock it till ya try it, sand bag eyes.

>>Oh, did I mention last week that I have a guest spot with the Legion of Blog? Of course I did. Well, I'm back again this week. Go read it. Tell your parents, your friends, family members and your local MLA's or something. Just go read it! They'll beat me if you don't!!

That's it for the morning. Nothing else to report as of yet, but if there is, I am adequitley prepared to report it to you. Lets see what those other bastards are up to.

The Other Guys:

File this under "what a horrible fucking thing to happen" - Ottawa Senators defenseman and last years Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson will be lost for the remainder of the regular season, possibly longer. Karlsson's Achilles tendon was lacerated in a freak accident last night. Of course because it was that fucking puke Matt Cooke, people are wondering if it was an accident at all; and by people I mean Senators GM Bryan Murray.

>> We have a trade to announce - one that no one will give a fuck about. The Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens have swapped minor league goalies. Going to Montreal, Dustin Tokarski, to Tampa Bay, Cedrick Desjardins.

>> Does Phil Kessel get hammered drunk and do interviews? That could be why he said he would "love" to spend the rest of his career as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

>> Los Angeles Kings coach Sloth from the Goonies Darryl Sutter says he needs to see a lot more from last seasons Conn Smythe winner, Jonathan Quick.

>> The New Jersey Devils brought back their little pony yesterday when they traded a 4th round pick in 2014 and a 7th round pick this year to the Winnipeg Jets for winger Alexei Ponikarovsky.

>> Whatever your opinion of Evander Kane is, I can assume that close to 100% of you don't think it has anything to do with his race. However, the Winnipeg Jets forward and former Vancouver Giant is speaking out, saying that he believes some of the criticism directed towards him is because of his race.

>> The Colorado Avalanche and Ryan O'Reilly contract butt-fuckathon negotiations have hit an all-time low. Some players even think that the 22 year old center won't be back with the team.

That's all for today, everyone. Hope you have a great day. Treat your lady, or fella to something nice tonight. Make sure that you're well prepared and that you aren't that person who's handing out a hand made coupon for one hour of lovin. Put some thought into it, you're better than that.
