The Canucks have recalled David Booth from Utica, where he was undergoing a conditioning assignment. He had 1 assist in 3 games with the Comets. To make room for the Enigmatic One, the Canucks sent Darren Archibald back down to the farm. Archie had 2 assists, 5 shots and a +3 in 8 games played with the Canucks this season. He was also credited with 12 hits and 5 blocked shots. I thought he performed rather well. He was being used sparingly on the ice by John Tortorella until the Sharks and Kings games, where was given a deserved 10:43 and 14:53 ice time, as the top 6 dried up. He played feisty in his time here, maybe less than I would have expected. No fights in the 8 games. A few signs of this:
I don't think we have seen the last of Archie.
Booth has 1 goal and 2 assists in 11 games with the Canucks this season. His general futility is well-documented. Yes, he was playing with super hustle before injury struck again, but it's time for him to cash in on the scoresheet. Regardless of what people are thinking of him, this is a really big opportunity for him to silence his critics. Is he a bottom 6 checking forward or a top 6 power forward? His play will dictate where he ends up.
Booth, of course, is a better option than Archibald, so the Canucks get an upgrade regardless. And it's welcome after the last 2 games in California, where they scored 2 goals in 2 consecutive losses.
