Canucks Re-sign The Sedins For 4 More Years

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

The Canucks announced today that they have re-signed Henrik and Daniel Sedin to (of course) identical 4-year $28 million dollar contracts.  An average of $7 million per season which is a raise in their latter years from their previous $6.1 million per season deals.

My first reaction is that this is too much dollars at the end of the term if their production decreases. Right now they are worth that much. I was hoping for a bit more of a hometown discount too. But hey it's a business. Plus they put up some solid years at that lower pay scale so now they get their reward, right?

Edit: The Canucks got them at $7 million. They would have gotten a hell of a lot more on the open market next summer.

The best part about this is that we can celebrate 4 more years with the Twins wowing the hell out of us. Also, we have 2 superstars that started and will now end their careers in Vancouver. Career Canucks. How often does that happen?
