Luongo vs Schneider. So soon. It's the storyline of the evening and you will not hear the end of the Luongo/Schneider debacle all evening so just prepare for it, ignore it, and enjoy the game.
The Devils play their second game in as many nights and may have a lot of jump in this one. They have to make amends for blowing a 3-0 lead on Monday night in Edmonton and inevitably losing 5-4 in a shootout. The Canucks showed us in their previous game against the Flames that a 2 goal deficit was not a big deal and beat the Lames in overtime on Mike Santorelli night. Can Santorelli stay hot? Given his work ethic I'd say it's quite possible.
To me, it's a bit about how Roberto Luongo plays but more about how Cory Schneider performs. If Cory plays lights out and the Devils win....well...the uneducated fans are going to rage. I want to the red light burn Schneider's neck and he gets pulled. No love here. Blow the Devils out and be done with it. OK, I can say I appreciated Schneider's efforts in Vancouver, don't get me wrong, and it was not his fault that he was traded, but it's in the past now. Get the 2 points, Canucks. Show no mercy.
Schneider did have this to say about Luongo before the Devils played the Oilers Monday night:
“I am obviously keeping tabs on him and seeing how he is doing. You don’t root for many guys outside your team, but he is a guy that I hope the best for just because of the kind of player and person he is. He is someone I think is easy to root for. Not on Tuesday night. But again, we are still friendly and we try to support each other.”
Oh look, Ryane Clowe. Welcome back to the Rog you fiend! And Steve Bernier...oh geez. Remember the Stanley Cup Finals from 2 years ago? Kings vs Devils? It was game 6 and Mr. Bernier did this in the 1st period:
Ouch. The Kings would go on to score 3 straight power play goals on that 5 minute power play and won the game 6-1. Game over. Hey, I love picking on Bernier.
