Mike Santorelli continues to be a big surprise. He had a 10-2 scoring chance differential (scd).
• Jason Garrision had a huge impact as well. He played 25+ minutes with a 18-4 (scd), was a stud on the power play and really picked up the slack in Edler's absence.
• The Canucks continue to get very little offensively from their bottom tier players.
• For example, Weise, Sesito, Dalpe, Richardson, & Booth were on the ice for only 1 scoring chance.

• None of Montreal's skaters stood out in terms of scoring chance differential (scd).
P.K. Subban is definitely an exciting and talented offensice player. However, last night he had a rough time in his own zone as Subban's high-event game seems to come with a higher risk on the defensive side.

DEFENSIVE ZONE EXITS (DZE) & OFFENSIVE ZONE ENTRIES (OZE)

Most Advanced stat analysis centers around the idea that possession of the puck is huge key to long term success. Defensive Zone Exit Success Rate (DZE%) builds on this knowledge and attempts to identify the skill of leaving the defensive zone with possession.

• We need to keep in mind that the Canucks trailed for most of the game so ‘score effects' could be taking place.

• Both teams success rate decreased in the 2nd period . This is most likely the effect of the longer change for each team to their players' bench.

Offensive Zone Entry Success Rate (OZE%) attempts to identify the skill of entering the offfensive zone with possession. {The importance of this stat was first researched by Eric T. from NHLnumbers.com.}

The stat is expressed as a percentage - { total attempts (5 on 5) / entries with controlled possession}.

• The Canadiens are an elite puck possession team and this skill was clearly demonstrated in the last 2 periods.

It would be great to read your comments and ideas on these new stats.
