I bet this shot went wide. - Thearon W. Henderson

Vaya con Dios, Brah.

Jan 22 Update: He cleared and is heading to the Wolves.

***************

When the Canucks signed Jim Vandermeer to his two-way contract last week, it was because we were told he'd be an ideal depth asset (on defense or on wing) and of course addressed the perennial criticism that Vancouver lacks any physical presence.

It was fun while it lasted.

Assuming no one swoops in and nabs Vandermeer - which at $600,000 is hardly the worst option to have stashed away in case your backend gets the crazy David Booth banana groin problem en masse - he'll head to the Wolves where he'll pocket a cool $275,000.

I still like the Vandermeer signing more than a certain other defensive decision from last week, so hopefully he clears and heads to Chicago. AV will still have Andrew Alberts and he who shall not be named as defensive options. Up front does this mean the 2LC audition will now have passed from Ebbett to Burrows to Jordan Schroeder in the span of potentially three games? Yes please.
