Quick question on a slow day: what's the signing the Canucks could make that would make you think "What? Who? Huh. Actually..."

What I'm thinking here is someone who has maybe had some injury trouble so hasn't been seen much, or a contract that's be buried in the minors, or maybe a player that you think has the bad luck to be miscast in a role during his contract year. Someone who could be had for cheap with a chance of, well, even middling return would be worth it.

Find me someone who is a signing that's so crazy it just... might... work!

My nominee: Jonathan Cheechoo. His buyout from Ottawa has expired, but the fact that he's plugging away in the AHL for the past two years becoming Peoria's top goal producer and Worcester's top point man when he could have mailed it in on his guaranteed income makes me think he might have learned a humbling lesson about not relying on a brilliant setup man and past glory.

To me he could be worth a million dollar, one year look. But who else could be out there?
