Gragnani, We Hardly Knew Ye

"Marc-Andre was in the NHL all of last season, and will push for a job with us in the fall," said Hurricanes vice-president of hockey operations Ron Francis in a statement. "He has good size and has shown the ability to produce offensively both in the AHL and the NHL."

Right, but have you seen how he plays defensively yet, Ron? Ah well. The Canucks basically traded Alexander Sulzer for the 25 year-old Gragnani (in the Cody Hodgson-Zack Kassian deal) and now are without either player's services, as they did not qualify MAG as a restricted free agent. Gragnani scored 1 goal and 2 assists and was a -4 in 14 games for the Canucks after the trade (no playoff games played here). Today, the Carolina Hurricanes signed him to a 1 year, 2-way deal where he'll make $800,000 at the NHL level.

So as a quick tribute to Marc-Andre for his brief stint here I offer this:

Best of luck in Carolina.
