Well, one thing we have learned is that GMMG has major stones b/c hanging onto Lu after draft shows guts. I have to respect that, he is basically saying "look, this goalie is going to get you into the playoffs" so if you are the GM for Toronto, Chicago, etc... and you are doing all these wonderful things to improve your team it is all moot if you don't have a goalie that can win games for you. Everyone might say that these other teams have all the leverage, but, Lu is a proven commodity, he will come in and solidify the most important position on your team. He is also marketable and a big draw for fans, press, etc...

All that said, I hate the rumors. Someone is passing around that Lu rejected trades to Chi and Tor, but Burke has said publicly that he never had a deal in place - how could this be true if there was no deal in place? The rumors leading up to the draft were also crazy - Lu's picture removed from Rogers Arena, Lu spotted in Toronto, its all so ubsurd.

Great for Toronto to sign Schultz, draft whoever they did, bring up Kadri and Gardiner, trade for JVR, but what is the point if your goalie is average or below average? There are a lot of GM's out there with goalies who can't carry the day - they will all be out of a job if they don't do something to cement the position - Lu is available, but he ain't free.
