Welcome to the day that many people have been waiting for. Today at 4 pm PDT, TSN will begin their broadcast up here of the 1st round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. This day is well-known for seeing what prospects could be worthy of NHL superstardom, which ones will be busts, and watch all the drama made between teams. Some chaos has already started this morning, so let's start with some links.
- The first big trade of the day has the Flyers sending Sergei Bobrovsky to the Blue Jackets in exchange for a few draft picks. These picks are the 45th and 117th overall picks in this year's draft, and the 4th-round pick in the 2013 Draft that Columbus acquired in the previous Antoine Vermette deal.
- Reports from The Province and The Winnipeg Free Press say that Scott Arniel (our former Manitoba Moose coach / prospects Jedi Master) is close to signing on as our new Chicago Wolves head coach.
- Yesterday's biggest drama had the report that Jordan Staal is refusing to sign a 10-year extension with the Penguins right now. Most likely scenario is that he is waiting to see how this next year goes, since he and Sidney Crosby both have contracts expiring next summer.
- New update on the Rick Nash - Columbus front: they're no closer to a trade than they were at the trade deadline. Anyone else getting tired of this soap opera yet?
Alright, if you see any more breaking news, throw it in the comments here. If anything is official and big enough, I will add it to these links. There will likely be an open thread of some kind going up at draft time.
