Manny Legace Latest Canucks Camp Invite / Henrik Sedin Injury Update
Not much talk about this yet, but the Canucks have invited former NHL goalie Manny Legace to Camp. The 38 year-old played in Germany last year. He won a Stanley Cup with the Red Wings in 2002, as Dominik Hasek's backup and has had several other notable NHL seasons sprinkled in his NHL career. At 5'10" he's a bit short compared to the goalies nowadays. For the time being, if Legace can earn a roster spot, it will be bumping 28 year-old Matt Climie down the depth chart on the Chicago Wolves' roster. Either that, or we can start some trade speculation....
If you don't read Swedish newspapers then you missed a minor Henrik Sedin injury situation in Sweden. The first headline at Hockeyexpressen on September 1 roughly translated into: "Vancouver's Stone: Henrik Sedin Damaged." It was reported that Hank injured his hip playing in a "ploy match". What the hell is that? Damn Swedish-to-English translators. I'm guessing it means a ``fun game`` in Sweden. Daniel had showed up in Vancouver unaccompanied by Hank and then the news broke. The next day, Hank's agent Claes Elefalk told Hockeyexpressen that Hank had tweaked his hip but is 100% fine.
Apparently, Mikael Samuelsson's groin had been bothering him for 2-3 years. He says he is 100% as well.

I’ll start the totally unfounded rumor-making now: Legace as the Canucks back-up, Schneider traded to NJ with draft picks and Jordan Schroeder for Zach Parise.
Please GMMG, make September even more awesome than it already is, what with NFL/NCAA football starting and NHL just around the corner.
The debate of keeping Luongo versus Schneider: okay go.

Well if you’re gonna rosterbate like that..then tell us where/how we fit Parise’s $6 million contract into our plans :)

-we have $2.3M in cap space
-roughly half of Schneider’s $0.9M goes back to NJ (the rest is a vet’s minimum contract for Legace)
-say half of MayRay’s salary due to LTIR (dude broke his freaking neck, he won’t be back til the New Year at the earliest)
-stash Albert’s $1.2 in the AHL
What am I up to, say $5M? That leaves just over a mill that we have to find?
Of course, if we can hook NJ into taking Ballard, that makes things so much easier for us.
As much as I love Keith, I think either him or AV has to leave. AV, for whatever asinine reason, cannot/will not trust KB in a top-four role and will continue to pigeon him into a 5/6 pairing. Square peg, round hole.
Sorry Coach
But thats just asinine. AV or KB has to leave? Come on now.
Its simple. In any defense, there is room for one roamer, one rover, one guy that goes up into the play all the time.
Now, our defense jumps up more than any other team, but we really had only one “swaashbuckler”. That was Ehrhoff last year, and it is probably KB this year. I would think he is getting Top 4 minutes all year long, and is a fixture with the Twins.
To say that one or the other has to go is shortsighted, wrong, and gives neither the player nor the coach any credit for being a professional at all.
Now, if he does not do well in that role, which is what is his natural role, then yes, get rid of him. If AV shows he is inept suddenly, well, same there.
Neither one has much of a chance of happening.

Keith Ballard was relatively healthy in the playoffs, yet played only five games in rounds 2-4. After Hamhuis was hurt in game one of the SCF and we could have used a puck moving D-man, where was Ballard? In the pressbox, wearing a suit.
Continuing to pigeonhole The Franchise in a fourth-line checking role, particularly in the Finals when we really need offense.
His complete reluctance to use timeouts, maybe when it’s only 0-2 rather than 0-4 or 0-5. Stem the bleeding, homey.
His complete reluctance to pull your franchise goalie when he’s getting shelled and couldn’t stop a beachball. I LOVE Lou’s compete level, but it’s the coach’s job to pull a player off of himself if needed, be the clear head when things are going completely sideways.
So just say" I don't like the coach"!
That is entirely your opinion, and regardless of what you THINK are reasons listed above ( all just an opinion ).
Thats fine. I disagree with all of them, and think AV is the best coach we have had, and his team will go through walls for him, but thats just my opinion right?
But to couch it in the “him or AV” way you did is specious. Regardless of what you think of the coach, there is far more in any team environ than just a simple black and white thing.

Intriguing
Have we all given up hope of a blockbuster deal at this point? Or is this the precursor to a CS trade?
WILD SPECULATION GO!!
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
Precursor to a CS trade, I’m sure. It’s inevitable..unless they flog Lou somehow
