That is what Begin told Renaud Lavoie from RDS yesterday (yes I know, old news). The Canucks continue their wise collecting of NHL veterans / fringe players to see if they stick. Why not? It's camp. It doesn't count against the salary cap unless he impresses enough that he is signed to a contract. The 33 year-old center has only played in 488 NHL games since the 1997-98 season (52 goals and 100 points, plus 1 goal and 5 points in 36 playoff games.) Begin was drafted by the Flames 40th overall in 1996. He has played for 5 NHL teams (Flames, Canadiens, Stars, Bruins and the Predators). Wow he didn't ever play for the Panthers?! He only played 2 games for Nashville last season and spent most of his time with the Predators' affiliate Milwaukee Admirals.
The bruising Begin was most loved by
the Canadiens' fans I am reading. Not only is he a native of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, he also played his best hockey as a Hab. In 266 games played with Montreal, Begin scored 35 goals and 66 points. But a lot of his popularity no doubt came from the following:

I still think a guy like Nolan is going to make the team too. He has made enough big money, he would sign for next to sweet eff all, and I have a sneaking suspicion we get one year of full effort from the old warrior.
You can put him in the mix for a variety of reasons, and we have enough depth that if he does get injured due to general creakiness…well, you know.

it’s not where it needs to be yet… can’t handle anything well in a post other than straight text, and fanshots posted to the mainpage don’t show up, so it’s missing some good content. I won’t be using this until improved versions come out, but at least it’s a start
