Ehrhoff surprised the Canucks traded his rights
"I thought there was a few days left before free agency," the 29-year-old said. "I thought we were making some kind of progress, but in the end it didn't work out and I closed the book on that part of my career."

I have trouble believing that, but no matter. He made out in the end. It will be interesting to see how he produces away from some of the more stacked offensive situations San Jose and Vancouver granted him (no offense Sabres fans).

Come on Christian, we aren’t stupid.
You had a chance to enter the UFA market where teams will traditionally overpay, coming off a 50 point regular season and a run to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The sport business is very fickle and you had to get yours while the iron was hot.
Can’t blame you one bit.
GMMG had to make a decision, risk losing him to free agency and getting nothing in return or trade him prior to July 1 and get a small return on the investment (White and Rahimi that were sent to SJ) while he could.
