UFA Day 1 Open Thread: Frantic Tick Tock

Photobucket

The above image is all in good fun. Thanks for all the good times, Blastoff! The deadline for free agents is 9:00 AM PST.

The Canucks head into July 1st with 13 unrestricted free agents (notably Higgins, Torres, Salo, Tambellini, Glass, Rypien and Bolduc) and 6 restricted free agents (notably Hansen and Oreskovich) unsigned. Some negotiations are going to go down to the last minute. Some will carry on past today. Some negotiations will die swift death or already have. Let's see what Mike Gillis has in his bag of tricks on Day 1. Expect the unexpected, you know..like a Cody Hodgson trade to the Leafs....

Any Canucks signings will be posted separately and also quickly noted and highlighted in this post. I will do my best to provide you with all the signings from Day 1 here. It's going to be a frantic mess to say the least. But that's the fun of it! Happy Canada Day and try not to go blind from rosterbating!

Arbitration

I think in the cases where Gillis made qualifying offers to his RFA’s, arbitration is his plan. He’s let arbitrators set his salaries before.

Really? I guess he never really made much of an impact over here, and if Gillis is looking to add size up front, Shirokov doesn’t fit the bill.

As I wait for my coffee to brew, my brain is tumbling around aimlessly, and I wonder, does this mean he’s also looking to pick up a big defenceman. If so who?

Hansen

Already used his arb rights. Wrecker is safe, but Beaker could be targeted with an offer sheet

I thought a player could ask for arbitration as many times as he wants but a team can only take a player once?

by eleccy on Jul 1, 2011 8:05 AM PDT up reply actions

Yes.

I think that is right. I think the team asked for the last one. Don’t know why Beaker would ask for it this time.

I thought Hansen asked last time. Could have sworn I remember hearing that he wanted a one-way deal and that’s the standard with arbitration. To be honest I’m not sure why teams would take a player to arbitration. If they want too much money for their skillset then just don’t sign them.. I’m probably missing something!

by eleccy on Jul 1, 2011 8:27 AM PDT up reply actions

If the RFAs are signed...

…I’m actually okay going into summer with that line-up. I think Sauve is ready to be an early call-up on defense, and I’d like Higgins and/or Torres back, but otherwise that’s a pretty good place to start.

Of the UFAs...

I’d chase these guys:

Anthony Stewart: Heavy hitter, can chip in 15 goals on the third line, maybe more as a late bloomer. Inexpensive. On the down side, he’s slow.

Radim Vrbata: Good hands, good passer, good mind. A bit light, and a bit costly, but should produce 25-30 goals on the second line if Raymond or Samuelsson don’t come through.

Tyler Kennedy: Third liner that can step up, but last year’s production was the exception, not the rule. Frequently injured, massive energy guy, is going to get loads of offers so could be too expensive for what he’ll provide.

Matt D’Agostini: Good speed, good shot, and all of 24 years old? Hmm… Inconsistent, sure, and a bit soft. Still, I think last year was more likely a breakthrough than a freak occurrence.

He is definitely a streaky player, which will drive coaches (and fans) a bit nuts, but he’ll also get 220+ shots in a season in 16-17 minutes. On Phoenix, yet. I wouldn’t go beyond a three years deal for him, given his age, but think he could be worth the slight risk – he’ll improve the finish of the second PP unit, and I don’t think he’d get fewer than 20 goals with the players we can skate him with.

On the down side, his last contract was for $3 million. He’d be an expensive, and I think effective, prod for the current second line wingers.

I said to Dimitri Chesnokov from Puck Daddy: saw the potential in Shirokov, but I think he fell victim to a deep Canucks squad. Would you agree? What $$$ did KHL give him
He replied: I think he fell victim to the depth. And you can’t go on forever playing for $60k per year
I said: so why wouldn’t he wait for a trade? I guess that wasn’t offered to him
He replied: I don’t know how highly NHL teams would think of someone who spent most of their NA career in the AHL

Pretty fair assessment. Shirokov did have the chance to make good coin in the KHL right off the bat. He gutted it out and almost broke through, on another team he might have been a roster player by now.

Good morning everyone!

What an exciting day. If Torres goes (and he’ll definitely get more money as of 12pm EST) who would you want to target as the 4th line LW that can bounce around the line up? I was thinking Anthony Stewart (who is a RW I realize – maybe toss him on the third line) or what about a guy like Pouliot? Lotsa talent, not much to show for it, but could be a nice, skilled addition to the 4th line and maybe he’d develop some chemistry with lappy and jannik.

Exactly.

I was also really hoping we could nab Vrbata and Yandle, too.

I’m not sure how I feel about Raffi going to the Coyotes. It’s kind of good, in that I really get attached & feel proprietary about everyone who ever suits up in my teams’ colors, and now I still get to watch Raffi play for a team I love.

But I’m also concerned for the Coyotes, in that Raffi just doesn’t seem to understand WHY he has an image problem, and how he needs to adjust his behavior. I absolutely don’t believe he’s a bad guy, but his inability to predict the results of his actions make me worry he’ll be a liability for them.

Mancari

From the Hockey news:

ASSETS: Owns the size teams covet from the wing position, and is hard to move from in front of the net. Has produced good numbers at lower levels.
FLAWS: Doesn’t have great skating ability, and isn’t a great defensive player either. Needs to use his 6-3, 225-pound frame more to his advantage.
CAREER POTENTIAL: Depth scoring winger.

I don’t think he’s as big a defensive liability as they make him out to be, but either way I suspect that we won’t see him for more than 40 games next season.

he’s an upgrade over Kopecky on both sides of the ice (and cheaper). I am a bit concerned over the team’s size though. Especially come playoff time.

Sorry aero

But if you are expecting him to do everything Kopecky did, you will be disappointed.

He is an upgrade in terms of offense, and getting his shot off.

In no way is he better on both sides though. Sorry, have seen a lot of him during his Wild days. His problems are skating, and consistency

2:33 p.m. The Brad Richards story gets more interesting by the minute. According to TSN, the Rangers have already made their bid for Richards and have negotiated a right to match any other offers the center receives. According to the same report, the Toronto Maple Leafs just injected him with a near-lethal dose of hallucinogenic drugs and spent more than an hour pitching the benefits of playing for the Maple Leafs.

Only noise Vancouver is going to make is with a winger

If Gillis can’t get a good winger for Kes, he’s not going to spend money on something he doesnt need.

Good plan IMO.

Oh, and Chicago is no better or worse than last year. Maybe a little tougher, but their transition game looks a lot weaker. So I expect the same result as last year if the top talent continues to not give a shit (playoff bubble team), and 4th or 5th if Toews, Keith and Kane have a chip on their shoulder.

Oh, and if Sharp plays like he wan’t a big contract.

Suddenly hundreds of thousands of guys across Canada who can skate and fight are knocking on sports agents doors looking for 800k.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 12:56 PM PDT up reply actions

when your job is to play 4 minutes a game

and fight at every opportunity, all you really need to do is skate at a passable level and be able to control the puck with your stick if it somehow goes your way. NHL-level skills are not required for goons like Hordichuk, and he clearly does not have them.

by Canuckk on Jul 1, 2011 12:56 PM PDT up reply actions

Really?

Jeez in that case I should go get my 800k. I can skate at a passable level and I can control the puck. Again, seven seasons in the NHL playing more than 50 games per season says you’re absolutely wrong about him not having NHL level skills and shows you have no concept of what having NHL level skills means. He’s obviously no All-star but you have to give anyone credit who can stick in the NHL that long.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 1:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Come on man

He played in hockey outposts like Fla and Nsh. He never made it off the 4th line anywhere.

On a good team like the Canucks, he was too slow, and took too many penalties.

Just because he has survived 7 years by using hit fists, but canuckk has it right.

He does not have “NHL skill levels”. He has NHL fighting skills, and he is a great teammate.

But if fighting was not allowed in the NHL, he would have never made the league, let alone make 7 years.

I don't think so either

But he didn’t sign with us. He signed with the Oilers and getting a guy who has proven he can play in the NHL for less than a million in this market seems like a pretty good deal.

Not every player

Can be judged on points alone when determining their worth and 825k in this free agency market is peanuts.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 12:46 PM PDT up reply actions

You are ridiculous.

So, you are saying that there is a reason he is on a team besides fighting. Then when someone brings up scoring you say you can’t judge on points alone. If you aren’t judging him on scoring or fighting, what’s left to judge? Point is, the guy is a bad player at that much money, you can get the same or better production from someone being paid the league minimum. You will refute this, but have no evidence.

by Woodinville_12thMan on Jul 1, 2011 2:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Ok

You’re right. He doesn’t belong in the NHL. All the hockey people who have signed and played him over the last 7 years are stupid and the only things that matter in hockey are fighting and scoring.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 4:07 PM PDT up reply actions

Easy

Its not black and white. All everyone is saying is that his best talent is the one he is getting signed for, not all the other “pumping of the tires” on the rest of it.

The guy made it to the NHL when millions over the same time with the same dream cannot or did not. He got there because he was a fighter. Maybe he could do other things at the lower levels. he just did not show more than rare flashes of it in the time I have seen him in the NHL.

Its not just black and white.

He's a good dude

and I think a guy who has stuck in the NHL the way he has deserves a little respect. It’s not as if he’s a heavyweight fighter and he’s managed to make himself into a serviceable fourth line player. People here are making that sound like it’s an easy thing.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 4:21 PM PDT up reply actions

The thing is , CH, is every one of the guys in the NHL is a great player and worthy of respect. Guys like Matt Cooke were huge scorers in junior, and turn into…well, Matt Cooke in the NHL.

Quantifying between them, they are all good dudes ( most anyway), and worthy of respect.

It is telling that his biggest champion in the discussion can find not a better word for his talents than “servicable” though!

I was never trying to say he was any more than that. I agree that every player who makes the NHL deserves respect but I don’t know that I can agree that they are all good guys. Some of the biggest delta bravos i’ve ever met are NHL players.

Just to be clear

I like him as a person but I’m glad he doesn’t play for the Canucks anymore. I wasn’t saying any of this because I wish he still played here. Just sick of him getting zero respect.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 4:23 PM PDT up reply actions

fair enough

yes, it’s not like the guy has no talent by any means. When we talk “talent” though we usually mean his relative, NHL-level talent. And relatively speaking, Hordichuk is not a talented player at the NHL level. There are hundreds of players that likely play better hockey than him, but he made it because he is willing and capable of frequently dropping the gloves. He’s also a nice guy, I’ve met him before, but you could say the same of hundreds of other players in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, CHL, KHL, you name it.

We hate on Hordichuk because he doesn’t bring a whole lot, relatively speaking, to the table when he’s on the ice aside from his ability to fight. That’s not to say he shouldn’t be playing hockey, or that he’s a terrible person or player, because that’s not true. But again, relatively speaking, he is not talented at hockey and I would rather not have him on my roster when I could have a guy who is far more talented at actually playing hockey than he is.

by Canuckk on Jul 1, 2011 4:34 PM PDT up reply actions

I totally get that he is not a talented NHLer

I was never trying to say he was a anything more than a guy who has proven he can play in the league. That’s why he only got roughly 300k more than the league minimum. If the Oilers got a player that can play on their roster for any amount of games for 800k than it’s a pretty good signing.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 4:40 PM PDT up reply actions

good signing?

really? I know he came cheap but I’d rather sign a top AHL scorer for that money (like Mancari). The guy can fill minutes, sure, but he’s a defensive liability… how many minutes do you really want him to fill?

by Canuckk on Jul 1, 2011 4:42 PM PDT up reply actions

Mancari

Is a better player for our roster because he has far more upside than Hordi and we don’t need him to make our team. Unlike Hordichuk though, no one knows if Mancari has any value at all for an NHL roster. Hordi is currently the lowest paid player on the oilers so really any minutes they get out of him would make him a good signing. My whole point was only that they got a guy who’s proven he can play at an NHL level for barely more than the league minimum. Nothing stupid about that.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 5:00 PM PDT up reply actions

you're right

in that signing him wasn’t a stupid move, but it’s also a low-risk, low-reward move with very little consequence. I’d rather have a low-risk, high-reward player plugging away on the fourth line than a guy like Hordichuk who’s clearly got no untapped potential. But that’s just a matter of opinion. Either way this is an inconsequential move that probably shouldn’t be talked about as much as it is. Besides, it was as much Hordichuk’s comments directed at us and the Flames that made him noteworthy as it was his actual signing.

by Canuckk on Jul 1, 2011 5:04 PM PDT up reply actions

I agree

Not much reason to talk about him as much as we have although the conversation started before those comments. Personally i’d rather have a fourth line like the one ours is shaping up to be. Three guys that would be on the third line of almost every other team.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 5:34 PM PDT up reply actions

Why are you saying easy to me?

The guy started his response to me with the header “You are ridiculous”. I’m not the one making it black and white and I’m not trying to say Hordichuk is anything more than what he is. I just think that signing a veteran who has proven he can play at the NHL level for roughly 300k more than the league minimum makes sense for a shallow team like Edm.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 4:18 PM PDT up reply actions

No worries. Woody might have put a different title on it.

I can see both sides. He is a good room guy, and for a young team. pretty silly to beak off and threaten the two better Cdn teams guys the first day, but they probably just laughed at it, as most of them know him.

Same points, though Hansen had more ice time short handed and even strength and Torres had some on PP. Again, much as I love Hansen, Torres would be a more useful player for the Canucks right now: he’s bigger, hits harder and is actually frightening to opposing players.

Bear in mind also that Hansen is an RFA, and $1.7 million is doubling his current paycheque, where Torres is UFA and part of the Silly Season.

If he can just work on his hands, he’s a second liner.

Mancari...

…is not likely to stick at the NHL level. I’d rather call up Volpatti and give him a shot at the spot, and that’s not a whole lot of depth up front. I’d like both of Hansen and Oreskovich returned, so that would help, but it’s not a certanty.

Still, given the prices running around today, I’m also happy for GMMG to wait a month before signing anyone else!

The guy is a huge talent if healthy.

If not, then he gets buried. But 2.25 is not bad for Sturm. Guy can shoot, and before his knee was hurt, is speedy.

Low risk, potential high reward. If his knees are good, I am good with it. Even if his knees are not good, I am OK with it for taking the shot.

I think both these guys are out of reach. Gillis hasn’t shown himself to be a gangbusters type guy like that. Though I would LOVE to see him go the RFA route to sneak a guy over.

I really think a high pick and Hodgson and/or another prospect are what he’ll dangle (maybe Sammy if he needs it) until training camp. He’ll find a scorer, it just won’t be the sexy slamdunk we want.

It’s hard to figure why the Canucks din’t re-sign him if they were going to give Sturm more money. Maybe they’re afraid that he won’t be able to change his game to play under the new rules or if he does change his game he won’t be very useful.

Mancari intrigues me more though. 8 points in 20 games last season in the NHL, well above PPG in the AHL. And he’s huge. Seems like the guy has potential.

Been an AHL lifetimer so far, but it would be nice if he stepped his game up to NHL level. Interesting to see he was used short handed while in the A, so there may be something there – a body the size of Oreskovich, but that speed worries me.

Fuck the speed

8 points in 20 NHL games, and above a PPG player in the AHL? At 6’4 and 225? You cannot teach footspeed, but with the Canucks coaches for everything under the sun, you can make him better at it.

He seems to have great hands, and that is less teachable. He may never be the fleetest Canuck, but in front of the net, you do not have to be that fast.

Honestly, I thought Hoff fucked up more with silly little passes in his own zone.

The Canucks pass it around in their own end, but it was usually him that fucked that up more often than not. And AV can’t make him be more physical in front of the net if he is not.

I want to find out more about this Ebbett guy too….he was from the Ducks, right?

Ebbett

is almost a direct replacement for Bolduc. in fact, Ebbett’s last team was Phoenix.

One way deal is interesting though. But I’m pretty sure he’ll be in the Wolves at the start of the season.

by seedvt on Jul 1, 2011 5:15 PM PDT up reply actions

well

Ebbett is more talented offensively than Bolduc, but he’s also more of a defensive liability. Ebbett actually had flashes of top-6 scoring talent in Anaheim, but lost out on his opportunity and failed in Minnesota and Phoenix for the most part.

I’d think with a good enough training camp he could crack the opening roster or at least make the team, but it’s more likely he’ll start on the Wolves. Leaves the Canucks with plenty of options on the bottom-6 though.

Mancari was used on the penalty kill in the AHL, so I’m not terribly concerned with his defence; but the fourth line we had was at its most effective when it was getting in on the forecheck quickly and not letting the puck out. And if Mancari is going to be used this season, it will be on the fourth line.

As for being in front of the net, you don’t have to be fast to stand there, but you’d damn well better be fast on the back check if it’s turned over against a good team!

As I said, it would be nice to see him bring his game up to the NHL level, but that’s a story that a whole lot of good AHL players have. We’ll just have to wait to see if it happens.

I love him more after reading the story on him

Seems stoked, and knows where his role will be. He did see some time on all the lines in Buffalo too. The fact he is a 1 year deal, he’ll be motivated. Some toughness at the very worst, but way more potential for scoring than Hordichuk, for instance ( sorry CH! lol)

"The opportunity is amazing, and it being a Canadian team I’m pretty excited," said Mancari. "I saw how skilled they were last year and I see them being just as good this year. Hopefully, I can be part of it and contribute."

The Canucks have to hope Mancari can bring the package that presented itself in the AHL, where he was in the top 10 scorers the last three seasons. He’s also shown no hesitation to drop the gloves — although he hasn’t needed to do it much.

"Being up and down with Buffalo, I’ve played anywhere from fourth line to first line. I’m 6-4, 225, I’m a big guy and I’m not afraid to use my size. I’m not afraid to defend my teammates, but at the same time I feel I can bring an offensive game to the NHL."

Mancari scored 74 points last season with the Sabres’ AHL affiliate in Portland, Maine, and averaged 64 points over the the past four seasons.

With the Canucks opting not to re-sign Raffi Torres, bottom-six spots are up for grabs and that’s not lost on Mancari.

"There’s an opportunity there, so it comes down to me and to seize the opportunity," he said.

Really?

I think he’s done a pretty good job of turning a team that had nothing into a team that’s got some players. Really they are one true first line player away from being a good team and he did all this in one off season. Sure he overpayed for players but I think he had to to convince players to sign in Florida.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 1, 2011 5:37 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah when I look at that line up I see that he’s replaced a team of floaters with a bunch of character guys and probably half a dozen twenty goal scorers. Not too bad, especially considering he’s still got 17 million dollars in cap space left. Yikes!

by Sandwich76 on Jul 1, 2011 5:49 PM PDT up reply actions

It's actually pretty impressive

and he probably isn’t done yet. You gotta give Tallon credit, he goes and gets the guys he wants and he’s already proven he knows how to build a winner. Now all he ha to do is draft Towes, Kane, Keith and Seabrook.

by Vancouverguy on Jul 1, 2011 8:52 PM PDT up reply actions

I disagree. They improved up front for sure, but they got much weaker in goal, are still quite weak on D (though I love the Campbell acquisition) and are quite weak down the middle (Marcel Goc as your 2nd line centre is ridiculous).

I still think this team is in no better position long-term than it was yesterday. I understand the need to spend to the floor, but these contracts are just embarrassing – so much money spent for so little return. I’d rather have a team that properly tanks for a few years like Edmonton or Chicago circa 2006, and ends up with a boatload of high-end prospects. THEN you start signing pricey free agents and making trades to turn your team from a solid playoff team into a contender.

I think the Dale Tallon model is stupid and in no way sets them up for long-term success. They’re going to be mediocre next year and prevent themselves from getting the lottery pick they truly need. Which is going to lead to more of the same in Florida – a consistently mediocre team.

All I would say

Is that whatever they were doing before wasn’t working and Tallon has proven he knows how to build a winner so I’m kind of giving him the benefit of the doubt here. They vastly overspent on free agents but they had almost zero talent before and now they have some and they still have tons of cap room. I’m assuming the reason he spent so much was because otherwise those players would have signed elsewhere.

Sorry for the mini rant guys, but I get so sick of this talk of “better win now before the Oilers become a dynasty”!

Fuck that. Those three guys are good, but to call them the three best players in the entire West in three years is ridiculous.

I fully expect the oilers to be more of the same. Around the bottom five. They might come out of the gates fast, but that team is still way too young, Eager is too stupid, and together with Hordy, is going to give up way to many PPs.

Unless Belanger suddenly became the best PK guy in the league, not that worried. They have potential. How many teams have we seen in the NHL with young guys? Did they all become superstars? No.

Just because they have single digit draft numbers, does not make them superstars.

They have to show me far more to be considered more than bottom dwellers. Ryan Smythe nearing the end may be a nice “vet” for the young guys, but I will be surprised if they make the playoffs in 2014, let alone dominate the ASG. Sorry CH.

I certainly

would not equate Nugent Hopkins with Malkin either.

The Oil are not the Pens, there is no Mario there to guide them, and I would even slightly question the assertion that either Eberle or Hall are budding “stars”.

Neither one was nominated for the Calder, their team was last, and they have a long way to go.

I think they are both fabulous players, and maybe “could” be stars, but they sure aint yet. Eberle had 18 goals and 43 points, and Hall 22 and only 42. Thats great and all, but both were minus ( Eberle a -12, Hall a -9 ). Even on the pitiful Oil, where only three players finished a plus on the entire roster. Out of 30 guys listed on NHL.com that is 20th and 23rd.

At least it is better than Paarvari’s -13, or Omarks team worst -16!

I know what you meant CH, but its getting a bit much, to me, the way people gush over their “potential”. No offense to you personally though.

by vancitydan on Jul 1, 2011 11:35 PM PDT up reply actions

No offense taken

and I’m not trying to equate Hall to Crosby either. I just happen to think a lot of the potential of that first line and them being having a minus season on that team at their age doesn’t change that.

by Canuckelhead on Jul 2, 2011 12:32 AM PDT up reply actions

Because why should it?

If the actual stats don’t make a dint in the confidence in them, my opinion certainly won’t.

I get what you are saying. But I am sorry to say, your “thinking a lot” of them is no more than what every Oiler fan is doing too, so I can’t say its surprising.

But all I am really saying is people always overstate potential. They find a way of rationalizing any and everything. ( I am not saying that is what you are doing )

But yeah, you were trying to equate them. Its OK. We do it all the time on these kind of threads, comparing this player and that. When you say this…

The last team I can think of that drafted that high two years in a row was the Penguins and we all know how that turned out.

It is intimating the Oilers are going to be some great dynasty. All I am saying is that they have to prove it.

FTR, Sid was a -1 his first year, but it was overlooked because he had 39 goals and 63 assists. He was never a minus again. Malkin almost as good his first year, with a +2, 33 goals, and 52 assists.

THAT is a budding superstar. Not two rookies that combined for the same points Malkin put in for his rookie year.

I was not really looking for this kinda thing, its just like what I said above, I get so exasperated with the talk of this team or that, this guy or that, and how their young guys are going to set the league on fire.

Not sure of B2B #1 picks like the comparison you were making besides the Pens, but the Avs, for instance are a great example of expectations and labeling a guy a star. Duchesne is one guy that got that tag pretty early, and that team an example of one that fooled themselves by having a season that got them to the playoffs, and then….well, you know.

At least the Oilers have had the good sense to stay down for a while!

LOL Peace

What does everyone think is MG's strategy right now?

Most of the decent FAs are gone. What’s left are mostly guys with injury histories but have different upsides. Nucks still need at least 1 top six winger.

Trade for a big winger or sign a “washup”?

I think if there is a trade it’ll be Schroder rather than CoHo – CoHo has proven enough in his limited roles last year. But I also do think that MG is sniffing the list of former Cup winners who had played significant roles – I can only think of Drury right now. I mean, it was Mark Recchi’s accumen that jumpstarted Bruins third line with Marchand…. why not?

Really?

I figure Hodgson has a real shot at earning a spot on the third line as a winger, and playing on the 2nd PP unit as a C. Assuming we don’t get another top-6 forward (ie. Ladd), there is definitely roster space for Hodgson while Raymond’s out, and should he perform well enough, maybe he’ll send an under-performer (perhaps Sturm) packing instead.

Of course, that’s an optimistic projection, but I do see space to accomodate him should he prove ready. Long-term, of course, it would make the most sense to move him in a package for a proper 2nd-line winger for Kes, but that may not be an option, in which case keeping him (for now) may be the best thing to do.

Trade

I'd rather have Ladd

while were dreaming. He’s everything we need. A winger for Kesler, size, grit and someone who’s won all rolled into a B.C. boy package. Must have grown up cheering for the Canucks.

No way. I might do a jig if the Canucks signed Ladd but I would tattoo GMMG’s face on my face if he managed to get Parise

He's available

To play Shrek at kids birthday parties if that’s what you’re asking.
