Perspective on the Rome hit.

Stay connected for news and updates

Rome's hit was late and he didn't see him coming. The penalty and the suspension are deserved no doubt. I'm glad that Boston won, the players seemed energized by a fallen comrade, while we knew that even if we had tried to match the effort that we would lose. Congratulations on your win

But just a quick point on the sudden F$%# Vancouver from other teams:

I don't buy that "_____ team is a team full of pussies, assholes, and headhunters" right after one player decides to go off and destroy a guy. It's unfair to say that the Penguins are a bunch of little girls even though Crosby routinely acts like one or to say that Boston tries to break necks even though Chara was the only one who allegedly did such a thing(I won't take sides on that). It's realistic to say that one team does lean towards a style of dirty play, trash talks, or dives. But then again every team, including yours, does it as well.

It's also unfair to say that a team is angelic and clear of any wrong doing in the NHL. The other team isn't all of the sudden the devil himself, your team is likely as screwed up as the next. Smack talk, hits, blood, and injuries happen equally from team to team. Its something that happens in this league and while the cheap BS is there like Rome's hit, it doesn't qualify Vancouver as an organization that is any worse than other teams.

McGinn of the Sharks was a little bitch last round and karma smacked him in the face.
We were the better NHL team and that's why we beat them, we played foul sometimes and so did they.

The Blackhawks are my enemy and I hate them.
But should I whine and cry when one of their players does an awful hit against my team? Sure for a minute or two, but you will see questionable hits from your team as well.

I guess my point is that this is the NHL, we aren't out to play nice and your team isn't full of saints.

Did Rome make an awful hit? Yes.

Should that make the Canucks the Villains and the Bruins the plucky hero? No.
