I just love how we can trot out any number of guys (Ballard, Alberts or Tanev) when we lose one of our better d-men and not even miss a beat. I hope that Ballard can get back in, and I didn’t think Rome was great last game, but how about some love for Alberts! Pretty solid!

Based on their twitter feeds, the Bruins beat reporters expected the same Andrew Alberts who played for them from ‘05-’08 (the guy we were all slagging last year), not the new and plyometrics-improved AA.

Problem is
Hamhuis slotting in just bumps Rome down to the bottom pairing, not out of the line up completely, which is where he should be unless there are injury troubles.

but I’d be happy slotting in Alberts over Rome any day, considering he didn’t have much rust and had a good game yesterday.

I want Alberts
back in the line up.
Rome can go out. He’s served us well so far, but I liked Alberts game versus the Bruins.
He served us well?
I hope you are talking about the regular season when we had a lot of injuries. If not, check out Bruce’s scoring chances stats. There is a direct correlation to scoring chances against and when Aaron Rome is on the ice

Rome
Until this series has actually been decent. I know it’s hard to accept, but he has been very quietly solid. This round is another story, and is probably because he isn’t built to be on the top shutdown pairing. When he’s in that 6th Dman role, he does very well, but not when he has to shutdown the top guys of the other team.
I think it’s the same reason why Rome is in over Ballard. Ballard is not built to be a 6th Dman; he’s not the low-risk, stay at home guy that you want in that spot, whereas Rome is.

Rome has been servicable, maybe decent
But that’s about it. And ever since round 2, it’s been downhill from there. And in round 1, I thought our D looked MUCH better with Ballard in over Rome, who just had so much trouble with Chicago’s multiple speedy, talented forwards. Rome has really had one ok series, and that was against Nashville which doesn’t have very talented or fast forwards who are able to expose Rome. Against teams with great offence, Rome has looked more like a bystander than anything.
I can’t remember who, but someone said today or yesterday that Rome doesn’t make as many turnovers, because he never gets to the puck. Funny, but its also true.

…after Game 3, it’s hard not to kinda hope that Alberts is re-signed.
