According to Alain Vigneault, Malhotra has been cleared to play but is still listed as day-to-day. AV will not tip his hat as to whether or not Manny will play in Game 1. Malhotra addressed the media for the first time today since the injury occurred on March 16, saying: "A couple of days ago. Doctors were pleased & I felt comfortable enough." (Ben Kuzma)
As long as he is game-ready he is going to be a most excellent addition. This will take some face-off / defensive heat off Ryan Kesler. At some point, Maxim Lapierre, who has done a wonderful job as the 3rd line center, may be bumped back down to line 4. We'll see how quickly that happens. No problem if Manny starts on Line 4 center position to get him up to speed. This just makes the Canucks that much more deep, but most importantly, Manny is doing fine and can resume his career!
