From Chicago, With Love
I'll start simple. Congratulations, your team showed their teeth tonight, and played a hell of a game.
But more importantly, they closed out what may have been one of the greatest series ever played by two teams in the sport. When people ask me why I love this game, I will point to this series. Despite the outcome, these games defined what this sport is. It's fast, It's dynamic, it's brutal, and most of all, unpredictable. Thank you, because without you, our season would have been an exercise in frustration, punctuated by our inconsistency, and a shortage of optimism.
You brought out the best in us, something that we had waited an entire season to see (btw, thanks for hitting the Norris Switch on Duncs for us, lord knows we have been trying to find that all season as well).
Did you cast out demons tonight? No. Did you do something great for the franchise and the sport? Yes. Did you cement one of the greatest rivalries in hockey? ABSOLUTELY. The talent is there, the skills are abundant, and the confidence in both should have been secured tonight when that puck ended up behind my goaltender. However, we will be back, singing Chelsea Dagger and finding new and clever ways to make Dave Bolland the most hated man in BC.
My only thought to you as you advance is the same that was offered to us when we were gifted the opportunity to play for a few more weeks by the Wild: "earn this".
You may have won the President's Trophy, but you still are waiting patiently for a big Silver reward for the 40 years you have had to endure. Earn it.
You beat the defending champs
Earn it.
You are the best team in the NHL right now
Enjoy this win, but please,
Earn it, and collect what after this amazing series, should be yours.
Oh, and I still hate Luongo, Burrows, and that douchebag Bieksa like Lindsay Lohan hates rehab...
From Chicago, with (begrudging) love,
BCS

As a Canucks fan, this quaterfinal series couldn’t have been any better.
1. Playing against the Hawks and winning show that this could indeed be a different year than the past. We exorcized the demon that had been haunting us for the past two years.
2. Leading 3-0 in the series only to have it tied up at 3 apiece then winning the 7th game shows that this team has the mentality to go through a bumpy ride.
3. To lose game 5 and 6 so lopsidedly let the players know the road to that silver trophy in the end won’t be easy. It’s going to require everyone to play their best.
This quaterfinal series should have taught the Canucks a few lessons. We will be a better team because we have been through it and more importantly, get past it.
But you, BigCSouthside, said it best.
If we want to win that cup, we are going to have to EARN IT.
Go ’Nucks!
Thanks BigCSouthside
It was a tough series no matter what anyone says. I’m just glad we finally got over the hump and can call this a TRUE rivalry now :D

Hell of a series, minus a couple games in the middle there ;)
The Hawks definitely showed why they won the cup last year and I have no doubts that Chicago will return to the top of the conference next year and for many more after that. Your core is all young and you have a developing star in Crawford. I only hope these meetings start happening a little later in the post season. You know, like the Conference finals or something.
I just can’t believe that was only the first round

great wrap Southside.
It was nice to see the old #2 out there again.
i see your a proponent of E.F. Hutton hockey.
Save of the game was Corey’s highway robbery of Kesler with his glove while lying on thew ground. I’m thinking, if we can sign him, our goal tender situation is no longer a question.

Thank you. This is a rivalry I will be looking forward to for years to come. Both sides have a lot to be proud of in their respective teams.
Hope we see more of you around as the playoffs progress. You’re quality (so is your writeup).
Doors always open…cheers.

Great post! Two things that I loved about this series:
1: What an awesome series, you said it best in your post this was one of the best the game’s ever seen. It will be an NHL commercial for years to come.
2: The Blackhawks fans, particularly the SCH house. You guys are a classy bunch, and other than a few trolls (from both sides I’m sure), the interplay between us and you guys is always respectful, full of slightly begrudging mutual admiration, and it’s great to see a fanbase with the hockey knowledge and true love of the game you guys have. Some people from the Nashville fanbase could learn a thing or two from you guys.
and here’s a bonus #3: Corey Crawford, ho-lee-shit!
I said it last night: I could watch ‘nucks/hawks series every day, although my heart would eventually explode I’m sure.

for those kind words. Personally, Bolland gets my douche of the series trophy.

You guys are awesome
thanks so much for the kind wishes.
Please come back often during the playoffs. I find most of the SCH guys, and almost all of you who come over, are a top notch group who I really like having around.
We will make special room here for you, just like I am sure you guys would have done the same for us.

Thank you Thank you!
Not being to post on SCH because of cooling period (I thought I signed up in previous years to do handshake, but apparently no), here I have to thank you and many of the long term posters from SCH. What a classy bunch. Don’t mind the Sedin comment after the game, they were talking about how poorly the team played in games 4 and 5.
Your core players showed that they are as good if not better than ours. Your future still looks bright, and I hope the teams face off again in the future, but next time the Canucks will have learned not to give away games in the playoffs (ignoring rumours of virus going around the dress rooming for now)
Pretty much sums up my thoughts.
Congratulations Vancouver fans, this has been a great series regardless of the outcome.
What makes the great rivalries great is that they are not onesided
The Red Sox come around to get the best of the Yankees.
The Celtics get the best of the Lakers
The Colts eventually got the best of the Patriots
Mickleson beat Tiger
and Joe Frazier got the best of Muhammed Ali.
Last night this series got cemented as the greatest rivalry in our sport, and that makes the final result a less bitter pill for me to swallow.
For get the Canadiens and the Leafs, they haven’t played a meaningful game against one another in who knows how long.
Forget the Pens and Caps, we didn’t need NHL brass and the network media to concoct our rivalry.
Finally, personally for me anyways, Forget Blackhawks-Red Wings, that rivalry pales in comparison to ours. If i could, I’d change my screen name to Vancouver Must Die, out of respect ya know ;)
Finally, I always route for every dog to finally get their day. I’ll be rooting for you guys to get that cup. Why? because after 40 years of waiting I think you guys in Vancouver would probably understand how special it was last year to see the Hawks hoist one after 49 years. A great big second to BigC, earn this, Vancouver, I’ll be rooting for you.

Well said. And thanks
Appreciate the civility – I know we had some somewhat heated discussions at SCH :)
This paragraph basically sums up my feelings:

Sports rivalries morph over time. They need time to marinate, and 3 consecutive post season meetings has done that. None of this “Oh look at those two superstars – let’s have you and him fight!” prearranged shit. Save that for the WWF.
Now, how about a Winter Classic? Never going to happen, but I really think the NHL should consider it. Wasn’t this series the most watched out of all the first rounders in the US? And that’s with a Canadian team in it!
Thanks again, and a well deserved comeback. I don’t think you guys should be disappointed in your team. It may have taken the whole season for some of your players to remember their potential – but that switched flipped in a lot of them in time to make this a barn burner

Unfortunately Bettman seems hell bent on keeping Canadian teams out of the Winter Classic
but how fucking good of a game would that be!?
Hopefully by that time the Hawks will have an actual centerman for Hoss

Thanks for being so classy :)
It really is becoming a helluva rivalry… the best in the NHL right now I’d dare say. There’s going to be many more battles with you guys in years to come. With that core you have right now, the Hawks aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. It’s only going to get more epic from here on out!

Thanks mate
Classy post. I have been very impressed by the SCH Hawks fans who have joined us this series, very respectful and engaging even in defeat. I hope we meet again in playoffs to come.
