Saturday Scoreboard Watchin'

Okay, so I just realized that there's a 9:00am game, so I'll just put up some stuff quickly, and add my extra features later.

9:00 am PDT Lightning visit Penguins.  Pittsburgh can eliminate Tampa today, which would not work well for my brackets.  Viewable on CBC and Versus.

12:00 Rangers visit Capitals.  Same scenario as above: Washington can eliminate New York today, and my brackets would suffer.  Viewable on NBC, TSN and RDS.

4:00 Canadiens visit Bruins.  This series is tied at 2 games apiece, so this could easily go to 7 games.  Viewable on CBC, Versus and RDS.

7:30 Kings visit Sharks.  San Jose leads the series 3-1 right now, and can also end it tonight.  Viewable on TSN, Versus and RDS.

Now, for a special feature.

As we know, the Victoria Salmon Kings, the ECHL affiliate for the Canucks, are also in the playoffs right now.  Last night was Game 4 of their 2nd-round series against the Utah Grizzlies, with Victoria coming in with a 3-0 series lead.  I was at the game last night, and got some video footage.  Yes, that's right, I figured out how to take videos and post to Youtube!!!!

First, we have Marty the Marmot, Victoria's mascot.  As I have shared with you before, Marty likes to mimic Vancouver's Green Men by walking around in a green suit.  Last night, he was wearing a jersey over it, and he got a little carried away:

Next, we have a near-goal by the Salmon Kings in the 2nd period.  The sudden movement of the camera was me jumping up to celebrate what should've been a goal.

Now, we have some more physical play in a following shift.  At the beginning, that's a Utah player that looks hurt.  When the whistle is blowing, watch for the Victoria player to be flipped over a Utah player.

Finally, as I predicted would happen, I got excellent footage of the 2OT winning goal.  I also let the camera keep going for the celebration and handshakes.  I did have the salute to the crowd at the end, but the file was too big to upload to my computer, so I had to cut it off.

With that win, Victoria completed the sweep over Utah, making this the first time Victoria has ever earned a Conference Final playoff berth.  They will face bitter arch-rival Alaska Aces in the Kelly Cup Conference Finals, with Game 1 already scheduled for Wednesday.
