Nucks Misconduct Toronto meet-up: A fun night and a satisfying 'W'

Nm2_medium

Last night some of the Ontario-resident NMers got together at a downtown Toronto bar to watch the Canucks fantastic come-from-behind win over the Calgary Flames. Apparently Ryan Kesler decided to KeslerBomb us. What a douche.

It was a great night, meeting and hanging out with fellow Canucks fans and dropping nicknames like "Keslord" and "FUSweden" without drawing blank stares or dirty looks. After the jump, a couple more pics and a little more about the evening.

Star-divide

The crew: nucksandpucks (me); spriteofice; outsidethewall; outsidethewall's roommate; TDot_Canuck; Canucks86 (clockwise from left)

Yes, we all have real names; and no, we did not call each other by our SB Nation user-names all night. It was a small, but solid and boisterous crew - we yelled loudly and high-fived at the good parts (DANK!!!), and yelled loudly and swore at the crappy parts (SON OF SAM!!! *facepalm*). And we may have put away a few pints.

We were close to representing each era of Canucks jerseys - we just needed a Flying Skate to complete the collection. Next time...

Img_8523_medium

And one more shot of the T-Dot crew (I took this one, thus vastly increasing the overall aesthetic appeal of the image). It was a great first meet-up, and I hope there will be more to follow come playoff time. I know a lot of people couldn't make it (we had a few last-minute travel arrangement issues that unfortunately meant some people couldn't join us) so hopefully next time it will be an even more enthusiastic gang of rowdy Nucks fans!

Thanks to everyone who came out, and for those of you who couldn't make it I hope to meet you down the road - 10:00 PM face-off times be damned!

This looks it was a lot of fun.

Did any Leafs fans hassle you guys?

Nah, they were placated by their big win over Buffalo. We were 5 minutes walk from the ACC so there were a lot of Leafs fans at the bar, but no one gave us any grief. In fact, we were pretty much ignored – kinda like those awkward and loud relatives at a family gathering who you find it easiest to just pretend don’t exist. We would yell and high-five when the Canucks scored and people just kinda looked at us funny and carried on as though nothing had happened.

Actually....

there were 2 older leafs fans (maybe old enuf to remember 67) that cheered whenever calgary scored… I think one of us asked why they were cheering the flames… they had an odd response “They’re already in first place so who cares”. I guess not having seen the leafs in the playoffs since before the lockout has resulted in this.

But in my head..i was thinking this:
Well…as Henrik and the entire Canucks Leadership have said all season….“It’s all about the process…” You know the process of beating the snot out every team that is worse then them. By my deducton…they should win against every team cause they’re at the top of the league =)

by TDot_Canuck on Mar 13, 2011 8:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Haha, I don’t remember those guys. Maybe they are just pulling for Canadian teams to make the playoffs? I always meet a few of those fans each playoffs, which can be good (they are cheering for the Canucks) or annoying (they know almost nothing about the team and criticize every little slip-up).

Gotta give TDot_Canuck props for the Flying V jersey and matching hat. Nice!

Sounds like you guys had a good time which is what’s important.

I’ll make it out to the next one. A playoff game meet-up perhaps?

All of us

agreed that we needed to do this again for the playoffs. So it will be done, and we will slowly infuse Leafland with Canuck Nation!

So I'm picking up the pieces, now where to begin. The hardest part of ending is starting again.

And I will wear my black flying skate jersey next time ;-)

Thanks.

The Canucks store used to sell that hat. I’ve noticed that they stopped carrying New Era as many new era fitted hats… You know….it is extremely hard to find ANYTHING to match that flying V jersey ;) Thank goodness they don’t sell the matching pants…

Speaking of matching pants, we should probably ask Flames fans how they felt about those hidious Heritage classic hockey pants…. ICK.

by TDot_Canuck on Mar 13, 2011 11:10 PM PDT up reply actions

I bought a New Era Canucks cap from Lids

Its just the normal Canucks logo with VANCOUVER over it… exactly the same as on the regular home/away jerseys. Cap is all black. Ive noticed that Lids/Canucks store doesn’t carry a lot of vintage stuff besides the stick in rink and 40th anniversary stuff. I saw a Canucks skate logo hat but thats about it.

The Keslord looked down upon his Eastern flock

..and, shortly before a miraculous photobombing requiring his simultaneous presence in provinces thousands of miles apart, dubbed his heroic band of followers “The Hogtown 6”. ..and there was much rejoicing and swilling of booze!.

looked on in envy and cursed the sinful ways of their former leaders Fletcher and JFJ for dooming them to playoff-less purgatory.

I can't believe I missed this!

I just got to Toronto a month ago today, and this would have been a great introduction to the Nuck faithful in el Toro. Instead I was the crazy guy rolling solo, and cheering when the Canucks scored.
