Not even five stitches to the neck can stop the KesLord from being 100% creepy.
The Canucks twice erased a Flames lead, thanks very much to Daniel Sedin who potted two clutch goals. Obviously they started slow (as evidenced by Samuelsson's quick demotion to the fourth line, a well deserved move by Vigneault after Sammy was undressed by Backlund on the opening goal) but eventually regained control of the game. Vancouver finished with the stronger chances with the exception Malhotra's line who didn't fare well up against Stajan's line.
Random thought: anyone else digging the top six flexibility Chris Higgins brings?
Henrik passed the 500 career assists mark last night and started the march towards 600. After being blanked on the scoresheet three in a row at home, Hank collected nine points on the road (1G, 8A) and leads the league with 67 assists. As long as we're tracking the leaders, Daniel padded his overall points lead (89) but still trails Stamkos's goal lead by six tallies.
Not the strongest game from Luongo (he needs to stop that Moss goal) but he ended with 20 saves and his third win of the trip. Luongo would need to play all 12 games remaining to finish up with 64 on the season, which would be his second fewest regular season games as a Canuck. Nevertheless he's on pace for his second best career save percentage (.924) and his best overall goals against (2.24). Flexing that Ginger muscle is working up and down the lineup.
...and now a word from Jeff Paterson:
#Canucks road trip remnants: Luongo's 300th #NHL win, Malhotra's 100th goal, Torres 500th game, Henrik's 500th assist
Calgary remains in eighth place, but they have to keep winning. Nashville is one point back with two games in hand and the Ducks are behind them, two points back and three games in hand.
There's some different magic number ideas bopping around (complicated by what Calgary and Minnesota can do in regulation and the Bettman point) but Vancouver basically needs to win two more games to seal the division. Those next two games just so happen to be against Minny (tomorrow) and Colorado on Wednesday (last reports suggest they still have a NHL team).
Enjoy your Sunday. Also Kesler is probably standing right behind you.
