I think it was pretty obvious he would miss a good chunk of time after seeing that replay. At least there is no surgery involved. Best of luck rehabbing it Grizz!

It is good news

in a sad was. 4-6 weeks is pretty significant. I’d rather see if some of the young forwards can do what the young d’men did last year. Fill in and play the system.

Sweatt is first up, but with Raymond around, and the depth, there are options.

googlyboogly would know more watching the Wolves, but maybe Schroeder gets a shot if they want to jack the offense, or Mancari, Wrecker, and Duco get to play line up bingo.

Or the long shots like Roussell, Longpre and Clackson. Looking at the sked, it could be as little as 10-12 games, or as many as 16-18. So, a deal is not out of the question. Maybe GMMG had plans for the deadline that get moved up?

I think it has to do with their displeasure with Oreo's performance

he was a HUGE disappointment last night. They don’t seem to comfortable with anyone else. They’re not looking to bring in someone to protect guys until the playoffs, but they still need someone to replace Volpatti… just a vibe I am getting, and maybe I am wrong. But my gut tells me we see something happen soon

eventually I think he needs to go to win a cup somewhere else. ideally, they trade him, he wins a cup, and then signs a contract here to finish out his career.

if they do end up trading him, I think the return will be a little better then people think.

Elliot Pap vs Joe Sacco

http://blogs.denverpost.com/avs/2011/12/06/first-period-hits-on-wilson-and-booth-remembered-in-ugly-third-period/9042/

“Avs coach Joe Sacco was irate that Lapierre was not punished and Porter was. Sacco and Vancouver Sun reporter Elliott Pap got into an interesting conversation after I asked Sacco about Wilson’s status.

"He’s got a head injury right now. We’ll know more tomorrow. That’s a dangerous hit, and that should of been a penalty on that play," Sacco said of the Lapierre hit. "Unfortunately, the referee missed it. We get a five-minute major on, you know, a marginal call and we don’t get a five-minute major for the hit on Wilson, which I thought was dangerous."

Pap: "You thought the Porter hit on Booth was a marginal call?"

Sacco: "Yeah."

Pap: "Oh, really."

Sacco: "Yeah."

Pap: "Did you see a replay of it?"

(Two, three seconds of looking at Pap … )

Sacco: "Did I what?"

Pap: "Did you see a replay of it?"

Sacco: "Yes, I did."

Interview over. "

Is anyone else

kinda sick of everyone calling for a suspension every single time something happens outside to the rules? I mean jesus, people are talking about a suspension for a spear and being serious. Is there nothing that can be considered just a penalty anymore?

by Canuckelhead on Dec 8, 2011 12:09 AM PST reply actions

I think in that case it was because it was a dirty dirty play that completely fooled the refs.

I don’t think it was the worst thing ever but it was typical Ovechkin acting like a child, he’s a repeat offender (or was at one point), etc… I personally wouldn’t suspend him but I can totally understand why you’d want him gonzo’d if you’re an Ottawa fan.

Good to see Boother is only gone for 6 weeks or so, that looked like it could’ve been a lot worse. I’m not going to make an assumption on the kind of player Porter is based on that one play, but that was a dirty play that can end a guy’s career (rather, it’s the type of play that can.. you see what I’m saying.) I wouldn’t throw the book at him but I sort of feel a game or two is in order for that.

And whatever Penguin ran into Crosby and hurt him should be suspended for the rest of the season; intentional, malicious, gutless cheap shot.

by RogerFenway on Dec 8, 2011 12:52 AM PST up reply actions

Call me naive

but, I don’t really think OV went that far out of his way to spear Neil. He deserved the 2 min for spearing, because, well, he did spear him, but I don’t think it was THAT blatant.

Secondly, if spearing wasn’t a suspendable offence, why are we calling for his head? Shanahan. if he is forced to do something, is probably going to give him a slap-on-the-wrist fine, and that’s the end of that.
