I'm curious how Bert is viewed in Detroit...
I swear when he played for Vancouver the most common phrase heard from me was “Aw for Chrissakes Bertuzzi.”
Doesn't seem too dissimilar, from how most Wings fans view him, really.
Except perhaps a little less vulgar than how many of us would say it.
He’s good on a line with Datsyuk. Sometimes he defers the puck off to his linemates too much, but he’s really cut down on the blind spin-o-rama backhand passes to nowhere. He doesn’t use his body as much as he should and he’s still far too in love with trying to control the puck one-handed, but he does help create space and his defensive game has come around a lot.
Still, overall thought is that he’s done with our club after this year and very likely done with the league.

Thanks – very interesting – it’ll be fun to watch him tonight to see if all his bad habits return in such a familiar arena (I hope!).
Anyway, the Wings are one of my favourite (yes, with a “u”) teams to watch – highly skilled and usually a fun game whether it’s low or high scoring.
May the best team without Bertuzzi win.

that red wing fans would LOVE the canucks. Let’s face it, everything that detroit’s ever been hated for has now been foisted upon vancouver by the brilliant minds in the media – the tinfoil hats, the diving, the arrogant fan base, all those soft swedes who aren’t actually soft, Todd Bertuzzi, heck even a city to laugh at after the riots (although, if you’re like me you’d probably take a minor civil disruption over a large city becoming a decayed ghost town).
I’m not surprised by detroit fans making jabs against an opponent, but i’m somewhat mystified by some of the blatant hate some spew. It’s like they don’t see the parallels between our teams…

There’s part of me that actually feels a kinship with Canuck fans: we both hate the Blackhawks, we both are hated by the rest of the NHL, we’re accused of wearing tin-foil hats, and we both have an affinity for Swedish players.
Still, the Canuck fans with their "Embrace the Hate" have nothing on Wing fans, who have embraced it, dated it, gotten engaged to it, married it, had a couple of kids with it, and have now settled into a very comfortable existence with it, knowing it’s always going to be there and resigning themselves to that fate.

I mean, of course I don’t like the Canucks… they’re not the Red Wings. By that standard, I don’t like ANY other hockey team.
Amerinadian has one more thing in common with most Canucks fans, and that’s adding the letter u to words where it doesn’t belong. We’re generally going to make jabs (as it made obvious by the way the morning skate was written). But when it comes time to wishing the worst for a team or its fanbase, Vancouver falls behind a couple of Eastern Conference teams even on the ladder as far as it comes to me.
We don’t LOVE you guys or your team, but we can appreciate the same kind of stuff as far as the way our teams and fanbases are viewed by the rest of the uncultured mouthbreathers who like other teams.

Personally, I feel the common bond between the 2 fanbases creates a sort of respect, because each knows how the other is viewed by the rest of the league. While JJ correctly points out that there’s no love for you guys, the quality of the Canucks combined with the shared experience means that you guys rise on the ladder of teams we don’t want to see obliterated from existence.
