PrintThis has turned out to be a busy day for news, both about the Canucks practice and around the league. And, for some reason, a whole bunch of big news decided to be released just at the top of this hour. Since it appears that Jordan hasn't figured out the trick of adding works full-time and doesn't have the time to add links to his post throughout the day yet, I'll give you a bunch of stuff right now:
- The Kings just fired head coach Terry Murray, and will have John Stevens fill in as interm head coach. Another one bites the dust! Rumoured potential replacements on Twitter include Darryl Sutter, Randy Carlyle and Bob Hartley. Oh boy.....
- The Devils just traded Rod Pelley and Mark Fraser to the Ducks for Kurtis Foster and Timo Pielmeier. You guys will remember Foster for spending time with the Wild and Oilers. I also remember Pielmeier as the hot Bakersfield goalie at my first Victoria Salmon Kings game. Yes, this game.
- The Sharks have activated Antero Niittymaki from IR. He will go to AHL affiliate Worchester for conditioning.
- There will be no suspension on Sharks player Andrew Desjardins for Saturday's boarding on Sami Lepisto. NHL just slaps him a $2500 fine.
- Another beneficiary of the fine-and-no-suspension treatment today is Brad Marchand, for slew-footing Matt Niskanen of the Penguins.
- A couple updates from The Province: Cody Hodgson is cleared to play tomorrow, and Roberto Luongo is expected to start against the Blue Jackets. Also noted this morning was that Sami Salo didn't skate today, having a "maintenance day".
- Via Puck Daddy, the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team has been reborn in Russia.
- Speaking of Russia, my eye-candy Nikita Filatov is heading back to CSKA Moscow of the KHL.
- If you're looking for more info on our opponent tomorrow night, go check out The Cannon. Among Columbus news today is Dane Byers being called up to replace Derek Dorsett, and Steve Mason's expected return to the pipes for tomorrow night.

? If he passed all the tests, I don’t get it. I know its a huge thing right now, but not every contact to the head, even if he did look like he got his bell rung, does not mean an instant concussion.
I am reminded of Grabovski getting squished by Weber, coming back in the same game and scoring, and he was fine in the future after that one.
Sounds like they were cautious the game before, and he checked out fine.

Because one test immediately after the incident/game doesn’t mean he’s 100% clear of symptoms. Everyone is different, and he could be fine, I just hope they’re monitoring him still.

but they all are million$$$ investments
at some point you have to trust the professionals to be professional. The Canucks were one of the first teams to take a doc on trips ( it costs big $$ and some of the other teams used that place to cut bucks sometimes ), and you have to think that after putting him through the tests and talking with him, he is good to go.
After taking a year out to get his back better, I don’t think this is a player that would risk himself. Seems like a smart kid.

That’s the thing though. I basically don’t trust them when it comes to concussions. I don’t suspect the Penguins doctors are quacks, but, with hindsight, it’s clear that they fucked up royally last year post-Steckel.

Actually, I’m reasonably mad that Coho is doing anything besides sitting in a dimly-lit room right now. I hope whichever doctor cleared him for physical activity <two days after seeing him stumbling around the Corel Centre whatever they call it now is dragged before reporters tomorrow.

17. Kevin Bieksa said he went to referee Kevin Pollock on Saturday night, asking him to watch Chris Neil. The Canucks defenceman claimed Pollock told him “they were good friends and he knows him well and he won’t cross the line.” Had a good debate with the NHL about this. I wanted Pollock’s reaction, but a couple of league officials said no because “what is said on the ice should stay on the ice.” So, I went to a few “independents.” Most of them agreed with the league.

I’ll definitely go in to see someone tomorrow (and tonight if anything gets worse, for sure). I’ve had two others and both were way worse. I didn’t see stars this time, and I don’t really even have much pain, I just feel kind of stupid and tired.
I didn’t notice it much until I sat down at my computer to read, so that’s
WELL THAT WAS FUCKED UP
I was right in the middle of blowing Kent off there at around 8:15 when I started to pass out, so I went to lay on the floor with my feet up and whined for Mr. Pseu to call 911.
Then some nice paramedics came, and I got to take a ride in an ambulance, sit at the ER for 3 hours while an old man yelled the same word in chinese over and over for like an hour solid, a woman having seizures spontaneously puked right next to me, and 4 burly EMTs had to rush in to help an RCMP restrain a girl who did not look like she could possibly be strong enough to warrant it.. Finally the doctor saw me and he was a rude dismissive jerk about the whole thing, so I guess I’m ok. :) It seems I am just prone to passing out, and have “a minor concussion”, and probably need to take less risks regarding book organization? I don’t know. Obviously I should listen to Kent from now on, about all things. :)

I’m having some snacks now (they wouldn’t let me eat!) and will head to bed immediately after. A little achey still, but nothing like what I’ve had before.
Still, makes me even more nervous to think about CoHo playing in the next game, you know? :/ He was way more wobbly than I was and there’s no way I’d even want to so much as walk down a flight of stairs right now let alone play hockey.

glad it’s a minor one, but it shows how the slightest bumps can cause them. If I ever make it over to a meet up I will have to go through the list and how each one was caused lol
