Around SBN: NFL Owners Vote to Change Trade Deadline

Looks like Burrows back with the Sedins. Kesler with Booth and Raymond. Higgins-Hodgson-Hansen. Lappy-Malhotra-Weise.
Ballard skating with Sulzer on defence.

Hosea Cheung on Twitter. So, what do you think of those lines? Who's excited to see MayRay back in action (if we can now assume he is)?

Damn, that is a pretty impressive four lines. Manny and Lappy have to be one of if not the best 4th-line tandem in the NHL. Hopefully MayRay’s return helps round out the lines and allows the Canucks to return to their usual balanced and prolific offense.

Even better if it was Manny circa 2010, rather than 2011.

Maybe Lappiere if he shoots from behind the goal line.

Lots of talent...

…but will they mesh together – particularly the Kes line with basically all shooters. We’ll have to see, since if they do they’ll absolutely spread the offense round. While Hodgson has some making up to do to replace Manny’s defensive reliability, he’ll definitely add an offensive edge to that line that Manny could not do.

Sedins – Burr
Kes-Hodgson-Booth
Higgins-Lappy-Hansen
Wiese-Manny-MayRay

Would have been my choice. Hopefully, Hodgson racks up the points playing between Booth and Kes.
Also, easing MayRay in with 4th line duties might not hurt. But glad to see him back, regardless.

I see Mayray more of a play maker these days than a straight up goal scorer. His speed on the outside and the lack of him driving the net with the puck means he needs to dish. It seems odd but it works out in Keslers favor.

by Vokail on Nov 21, 2011 1:38 PM PST up reply actions

I agree,

he looks more like a playmaker to me as well. Both Kesler and Booth can be crashing the net, so Raymond just needs to make good plays for them, and have the opponent’s D chasing him around.

Another player returning from injury

So I’m not expecting much immediate impact. Mayray will take several games before he’s breaking down the wing and coughing up pucks on the boards. Wait.

We’re as fans are still playing the waiting game. Waiting for Kesler to return to form. Waiting for Booth to blossom in to the player we thought we traded for. Waiting for Manny to be dominant in the face off circle again. There are some bright spots in Cody and Higgy but for the most part it’s a lot of unrealized potential and I for one am starting to tire of waiting.

Patience

is virtue.

I know it’s hard, but I believe that good things will happen, sooner rather than later. As the season progresses, the sense of urgency inevitably kicks in, and it will happen with vengeance. Pretty soon, the playoffs will only be a few months away, and that will re-fuel their drive to once again, win the President’s Trophy. They will be hungry to prove to the rest of the world that last year wasn’t a fluke.

Do I need

To make a new video for this line too?

Hopefully the lines not looking like a fucking dog’s breakfast will get us going.

Playing with the lines is one thing.. but AV &Co. needs to figure out why the passing is ass.
Cycle game is no good if you cannot complete a successful pass :S

Alex Burrows is a nice guy...He opens doors.
