Remember remember the month of November,
the passes, the dekes and the shots,
for the Canucks' preseason,
has ended this season,
and the juggernaut can't be stopped.
October's over! Let the season begin. Historically October has been a horrible month for Canucks fans as our team struggles to connect, to find their feet, to adapt to the system. Since Alain Vigneault took the reins in 2006, the Vancouver Canucks, have gone 29-27-3 in October. Conversely our Canucks have turned things around going 8-5 last year, 7-5 in 09-10. Going 37-22-5 over the same time period. Even better, 32-14-5 just in the last 4 years, Loungo going 24-10-4.
The Saddledome witnessed a team catch fire!
November 1, 2011 @ Calgary
Sadly it wasn't the Calgary Flames, as the Canucks jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 2 periods. Sadly the score ended 5-1 as Loungo really isn't a big fan of shutouts and continues to let in a goal in the last minute. Elder continues to help us forget Ehrwho?
Now with more Wild!
November 3, 2011 @ Minnesota
Well more Sharks. The Wild have only scored more than 3 goals once this season and are clinging to wins over Edmonton to keep them at .500. With consecutive wins over the Red Wings, the Wild are starting to come alive, or the Wings are showing their age.
Prediction: The Wild can't stop the awakened Canuggernaut.
Taking the steam out of Steen.
November 4, 2011 @ St. Louis
This is a great opportunity for the Canucks to get revenge for the 3-0 loss on Oct. 26th. With the Elliot/Halak controversy in St Louis, you can expect either goalie to be giving everything they have, several goals in Halaks case. St. Louis also will be missing Perron, Crombeen, Huskins and McDonald to injury.
Prediction: Halak gets shellacked!
I don't want to step on any Toews,
November 6, 2011 @ Chicago
But the Chicago Blackhawks just aren't the team that has given the Canucks such a hard time in the past. The defensive core has been shredded and the second line centered by Kane is the best offensive they have. Against the top teams the Hawks have fallen short losing to Washington, Boston and Carolina. In the first of two matchups this month the Hawks will be in tough.
Prediction: The Canucks will be too much for the shadow hawks.
King Kopitar has kidnapped the princess!
November 10, 2011 @ Los Angeles
With the emergence of Anze Kopitar (finally), the point per game pace of Richards, it's a mystery why the kings are dropping so many games to inferior teams. Hopefully the tale of two Jon's continues as the Canucks drop into town with fire flowers and their stars!
Prediction: Mitchell and Doughty aren't enough to stop 4 line scoring.
Coincidently it really is Duck Season!
November 11, 2011 @ Anaheim
The Anaheim Ducks are taking a beating recently, and it isn't going to get any easier with games vs the Rangers, Red Wings and Predators before hosting the Canucks. Anaheims first line has been asleep at the wheel relying on the aging Finns for scoring. The 40 yr old phenom Finn Selanne leads the team in points.
Prediction: Hillier gives up 5 goals..... again.
Snow needs another goaltender.
November 13, 2011 Islanders @ Vancouver
Tavares has 11 of the teams 18 goals.....
Prediction: The Isles have a hard time winning a coin toss.
I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow the lead in the third and lose again!
November 16, 2011 Chicago @ Vancouver
Second meeting this month with what used to be the Chicago Blackhawks. Same result.
Prediction: Chicago just isn't the team they used to be.
The Northeast is like Wonderland.
November 20, 2011 Ottawa @ Vancouver
It's like someone took the standings and flipped them upside down. Seriously! The only part of the Northeast anyone would have predicted is that Toronto would be ahead of Ottawa. With the loss of Alfredsson on the 29th I expect the fairy tale run of the Senators to correct itself.
Prediction: Anderson's luck is all used up.
It's raining it's pouring the Canucks have started scoring!
November 23, 2011 Colorado @ Vancouver
Is this team Irish? O'Brien, O'Byrne and O'Reilly. They certainly seem to have the luck of the Irish, with pretty much everyone but Varlymov and Giguere scoring, it's still a huge surprise the Avalanche have only lost 4 games. Fortunately for those of us who think theyre going slightly insane when we look at the standings, the Avs have started to correct themselves as well with losses to Calgary and Edmonton, before beating the Kings in OT.
Prediction: Reality Bites with the jaws of an Orca.
This team is literally the Dog House
November 25, 2011 @ Phoenix
All it takes to make the Phoenix Coyotes is to be unwanted by the rest of the league. With castoffs from Calgary, Edmonton, Minnesota and Vancouver the Coyotes look more like a farm team than an NHL team. How does Shane Doan come to work everyday?
Prediction: The Desert Dogs are sleeping on the couch.
November 26, 2011 @ San Jose
The Sharks lost just one game on their 6 game road trip... Thankfully they will be hosting the Canucks, for the first meeting since the Western Conference Finals in what will most likely be a preview of the Western Conference Finals. The Sharks big names are producing as expected however the loss of Setoguchi may have a larger effect on the Sharks production as their 3rd and 4th lines have failed to contribute.
Prediction: Vancouver wins because they must!
They arent winning anywhere else.
November 29, 2011 Columbus @ Vancouver
Jeff Carter should be back in the line up by the 29th of November, but im unsure that will help the worst team in the league.
Prediction: Why start now?
Sorry about the late posting. Work has been rather hectic. With 4 lines scoring, and the only weakness for the Canucks due to some confusion on the D, it's time for the Canucks to pull the trigger and trade Ian McIntyre to Afghanistan for a rug or clay pot or something.
