Coach V - Luongo is day-to-day with upper body injury.

Coach V confirms Pinizzotto is out for the season after shoulder surgery. Ebbett is indefinite.

Coach V - Schneider will start tomorrow vs. #Chicago.

Straight from the Canucks twitter feed. Sounds like Schneider will be starting against Chicago tomorrow night. Rumblings on Twitter suggest that Luie might not even be backup. Stay tuned.

1) Hmmm. Hopefully not serious.
2) Duco probably gets a shot sooner than he otherwise would have now.
3) Sounds good.

Let’s teach these bozos another lesson.

Bell Ringer

Maybe Lui got his bell rung by that save he made the other night – sorta like Dipietro did earlier this season

AV is the man

Just heard AV on TEAM. I love our coach. When talking about the injury, he demurred of being more specific with

“In light of what happened in Buffalo, we’re not sure what is and isn’t allowed on goalies, so I am just going to say upper body right now…”

With DiPipietro V’, it was the helmet he was wearing. Lui was even specific in the post game in that it hit where “sometimes it rings and vibrates, but that one I didn’t even feel that much…”(paraphrasing )..with DP, it was a helmet that is not even approved any more, and has a little square on top like a target for shooters.

That jump from "tweaked in practice"

to “season-ending surgery” sure seemed pretty short.

by Daoust501 on Nov 15, 2011 3:58 PM PST up reply actions

I can see it happening though. I had shoulder surgery a year ago and with the type of tear I had it was kind of deceptive. 99% of the time my shoulder was fine and felt like nothing was wrong, but it would randomly “pop out” (shoulder subluxation). I have even popped it out sneezing lmao. Turns out the tear was over 180 degrees along the labrum, they had to reattach a ligament that had almost completely detached and repair a hill sachs lesion (a dent from the initial impact). But with how damaged my shoulder was, I was practically symptom free for years after the initial injury, other than random dislocation lol

I feel bad for the guy. Went from having a good chance of playing on the 4th line, to a year of not playing at all.

I really feel bad for him too, he really did have a good chance, he looked great before he got injured. Plus it sounded like he thought that he was close to returning. (which is what made me think that perhaps whatever is wrong with his shoulder may have been deceptively relatively symptom free)

I hope his surgery goes well and that he has a good recovery and has a decent shot next season. I would also wish for him that maybe he has a speedier recovery than projected but it really depends on the type of shoulder injury apparently. Lol my surgeon actually used nhl players as an example when I was asking when I could return to normal activity and he said even a top athlete in the best shape like an nhl player, he would tell them they can’t even begin to start working out or doing any sports for 6 months. (other than physio of course which for my injury was mostly just range of motion stuff) so if it was a similar type of injury I don’t know that a speedier return is allowed. But I can hope that it isn’t like that and he can get back to things sooner rather than later :)

lol they can be :) though I know someone with the opposite experience from me, she’s in extreme pain from her shoulder like all the time but when she finally has the surgery her projected recovery time is like 6-8 weeks so it depends on exactly what is wrong I guess :)

From when he signed
VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Jason Botchford recently reported newly acquired Canucks forward Byron Bitz was happy to have hip surgery in March, as it finally resolved what was nagging him physically and ultimately kept him sidelined throughout last season. He had sports hernia surgery in October and surgery in January to repair a groin tear, but it was the discovery of a labral tear which was the real reason he was having difficulty skating.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Best wishes to Bitz for a speedy recovery and return to action. Last season was obviously a frustrating one.

Sounds like all the surgery is done, but he is still in recovery mode. He had a fair amount of work done!

more specific from AV on Bitz

and bemoaning what happened to our “depth”.

"Right now the three players that we signed for our depth are all injured. He’s done, we’re not quite sure on Bitz’ status yet, we’re still searching his injury right now and the other signing we had for depth this year was Andrew Ebbett, and he’s indefinite right now with a broken foot."

Probably not very serious

the fact that AV doesn’t want to say because of the Lucic/Miller situation means he expects Lui back in in the near future and doesn’t want players taking runs at him because they know something is still slightly recovering from a) groin injury b) concussion c) haircut

OT: Edler on breaing so many sticks:
“I’m using the same sticks as last year, I don’t know why they’re breaking, but there have been some breaks at some bad times," said Edler. "I don’t really know what to do about it, I can play around a bit with the stiffness and things like that, but I like the sticks so I don’t want to change."

So don’t change then. And keep breaking your sticks. Yay you smart.
